Who is the best table mechanic in Los Angeles area?

I am moving soon and will need my table set up again.

Thanks,

Russ...

Who is better than Ernesto....

Ernesto Dominguez is one of the best and he is a great player.
He plays out of Hardtimes Bellflower.
His son Oscar a great player himself.

I would have to agree that Ernesto Dominguez and son Oscar are great players and also Mechanics ....

They did recovered my Diamond Pro/Am and did a great job ... the only problem is finding when they are available. They have been travelling quite a bit for tournaments lately but I am sure you can arrange time with them. Oscar is on Facebook ... friend him and send a message about arranging time .. Pops isn't to technically savvy (ie internet etc.)

I would also recommend Gibbi Tkatch at Hot Shot Billiards in North Hollywood.
He does do a great job and covers many of the tables in the Valley and City bars.

Give him a call.

I assume that in order to move a table you have to take it apart somewhat at least. So I guess the table mechanic is needed to dissemble the table at the old location and reassemble it at the new one. But wouldn't that table also need to be leveled? So wouldn't you actually need 2 guys, one to take down and put the table back up and a second, leveling technician to come in and level the table?

Wouldn't it be great if the same guy did both?

I'm on Searing's wait list, you could go on Ernesto's and see who was done first! I hear he Ernesto actually carries a level in his tool kit, and may do the whole set up AND level (unheard of I know) which is probably why his wait list is so long.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know most of the guys around here, but wanted to see if there was anyone else out there.

I have had Ernesto and Oscar do many tables for me, but lately they have been super busy and I don't want to have to chase them down. I had a bar table that was 10 minutes from their house and tried for about 3 months to have them do it. It never happened!! All that being said, I have no hard feelings....They are both great peeps!!

I am only moving from SFV to Pasadena, maybe 15 minutes drive.

I will move the table to the new house and set it in place so it can settle into the carpet and then have it set up with new bed cloth.

Best,

Russ...

Sweet....maybe we can actually get together and hit some balls! Steve Leistikow tightened the pockets and put new rubber on my table about a month ago. I was very pleased with the end result and think he would to a good job on moving/setting up your table. Shoot me a PM if you want his contact info. When are you moving?

My vote goes to Donny of SDBilliards! He set up my Gold Crown III complete with "diamond-nizing" the pockets. Table plays great.

That's really cool that you are able to take your table with you. It would be such a shame to store that beauty.

Now that you are going to be so far away I have a whole new set of ducking excuses once I have the belt.

Last time my table was set up it was set up with new cushions and to the new Diamond specifications!!

That is the best (tough) playing table I have ever had the pleasure of spending time on.

Sorry to see it leaving the neighborhood, but glad its not going far.

..... But really a move is a move.

When I was living in Bakersfield Gibbi came up and worked on my old Gandy 'Big G'. He replaced all the cushions, tightened the pockets, installed new 860, removed all, and I mean all, the shims, worked on a crappy piece of slate, and releveled the table (with just a couple of shims).

I was really happy with the work.

Ditto for Donny of SD Billiards. He did 2 Nine-Foot Gandy's in our Community Center, my son's 9 foot Connelly, and my Global 7 foot bar table. He replaced the rubber on the Gandy's and recovered in Simonis 860 about 3 years ago and they still play great. On my Global, he installed new Ridgeback rails and recovered with Simonis 860HR. He is very meticulous and really knows his business. He and the RealKingCobra worked together a while back. I believe he's the Diamond Rep in San Diego. Can't go wrong with him.
