race to 25 2 out of 3 sets

Just woke up???? Get your ass to work or to a pool room or something. You should be robbing the guys on the day rate on a day like this. Be ashamed of yourself!!!

Sleeping in this week. Everyone on vacation except me. I'm out of splenda. Going to the store

Talk about day rate, I'm sending (2) Field Service Techs to K-Fels ship yard in Singapore on a $3,500 day rate for (6) weeks. (2) x (42) x $3,500 = $294,000 x 5% = $14,700. Plus we get to hammer them on expenses.

...what adjustments do you make when applying inside english on a table with new cloth?
There's always a little swerve with any sidespin shot (because you're always hitting a little downward on the CB). On slicker cloth the CB swerves less, so you have to adjust your aim as if there's more squirt. It doesn't matter whether it's inside or outside spin.

PJ....this statement is not worded correctly,

''because you're always hitting a little downward on the CB

You can hit side with 3 or 9 o'clock sidespin and Not be hitting low, one of the better shots in all of pool, the 9 or 3 o'clock, draw off a rail is the most simplistic of all cut shots with outside spin and teaches students allot about concepts of ball movement and cloth nose interaction with sidespin.

Have you noticed that no one has ran as many racks on the Diamond built rails with 4 1/8" pockets, compared to your rails that were on the TAR table before they were replaced with the Diamond built rails? Shane ran two 6 packs and a 7 pack as well on your rails, but I think the highest package since the switch in rails is a 3 pack...from a lot of world class players that have played on the TAR table since...including Shane. Ask yourself why?...the pockets on your rails are 4 1/8" also;)

Glen

shane ran a 7 on the table during practice for the JA match - not your rails. your a wood worker, not a miracle worker.

I hate to admit it, but I think my opinion is changing from the old school thought of at least 10 ahead or race to 100 mentality to the current TAR format.

I had always been on the line of thinking of what's best for the players, but if we want this sport to stay alive, I think the 2/3 "shorter" races to 25 or 30 will keep the excitement/attention of the fans.

This won't stop from players matching up on their own in any format they want, but in the PPV arena, Top tier matches are going to be about a coin flip regardless of race.

I will admit that this format does allow a little more wiggle room for an "upset", but after 15-18 hours of play on a weekend, the winner will have deserved it.
Also, we will see the best of the best because the winner will have to keep defending the crown.

Looking forward for this coming week match with Bustie! Great job TAR

As a suggestion if there are too many fans with ADD, then TAR could shorten the races to Races to 15, best 3 out of 5 and a longer Race if it goes to a fifth set.

When you hit the CB on its equator, or even above it, you're still hitting downward. That's because the butt of the cue has to be over the rail (the vast majority of the time). Check it out.

Thx, it's true, when your ''leveled out'' you are, but not quite.

Throwin' some horseshoes yesterday, the ''leaner'' rule came up. Couple idiots started barking, out came a phone, google, ''it' s two if its touchin''. When you think about it, it has to be leaning to stay permanently affixed.

...it's true, when your ''leveled out'' you are, but not quite.
It's possible to have a level cue if you can reach a cue ball that's 60" or so from the rail (almost a diamond past the side pocket shooting from the end rail), but it's still not that easy. The reason is that your bridge has to be less than 1 inch high or you have to raise the butt (to hit on the equator).

It's pretty much impossible under any circumstances to hit below center with a truly level cue. Even hitting above center with a truly level cue will probably cause a little swerve because of the "vertical squirt" effect (the cue pushing slightly down on the CB).

Chris - and I already know the answer - have you ever bet over $5,000 on a pool match and not played 30 ahead or a race to 100+ ?

So why should TAR be held to making it so that the fans don't get to watch any excitement until after 25 hours of pool -- which is what a race to 100 is. People won't buy day two or day three if the score is 35-22 after day one.

I think Justin made a great decision to change the format -- whether it is for the $5k he is putting up or if the players were betting their own. And I am waiting to hear an announcement that players have added on top of the guaranteed money. That would make it more interesting.

Justin made the right choice with a format that has a conclusion with a daily final.for american fans a win has to be achieved in a short time frame.
wrap up today's action and stir up tomorrows action.the best player vote comes after a years worth of daily action.

I also like the new format. I'm one of the guilty ones who only tuned in on the last day of the race to 100 format. Though I was unable to tune in this weekend due to family stuff (I know, my priorities are in the wrong place), I will certainly tune into the JA/Busty match.

I think that TAR should just do some kind of long term challenge thing. Kinda like a king of the hill thing that takes place on, say, a monthly basis. I think that keeping things humming along with regular monthly events would be a good thing for TAR and for promoting pool generally. I really like the heads up format instead of "normal" tourney play.

That is what I've mentioned to Justin as well. Players putting their own cash on top of what TAR is willing to put up.

I totally agree with you watchez. TAR is bringing action to the masses and they have to be entertained. This format is entertaining everyday.

It's like anything - they don't play the Super Bowl for 20 quarters. Tennis tournaments are SINGLE elimination. NCAA basketball too. Baseball is decided by a series that is 4% of what a single season of games is.

I think all of those are pretty successful in terms of viewership.

Thats a good point. I would think more views for the longer race. Should be interesting. CB you still a grizzly or a pooh bear?

All bart is trying to say is that the longer the race (sample period) the less luck will come into play statistics 101 just like playing poker if you look at a sample size of 1 hand or 1 session the weaker player will win a good amount of the time but when you review results over a year the better player comes out a head

A good pool example is my grandfather played Willie Mosconi 6 times in exhibition style matches (games to 150-200) and had a 4-2 record against willie but he was the first to admit that no one in the world could beat willie in a 2000 point challenge match willie was the best straight pool player in the world was my grandfather's opinon. Over the long run the better player will make less mistakes and string togather more racks you hear of people betting there whole bank roll on one spin of the roullette wheel or one hand of blackjack and gambling the longer people play the less the luck factor comes into play its what vegas was built on as Benny Binion used to say just keep em playing
