race to 25 2 out of 3 sets

options

A lot of good options here, everyone likes something different. The problem is this isn't like running two ads, testing them to see which is better, and continually doing that.

I don't know whats best, and I am not paying TAR's bill, so I will continue to watch. Anything is better than nothing in this case:thumbup:

I think it should be a ten ahead set.
I'm not interested in the "cream rising to the top" crap in a race to a gazillion.
If you are the best then come with it. "First shot, best shot."
If you need two days to warm up and get in stroke then you aren't the best player.
If you have a bad day, welcome to the real world. That's what tomorrow is for -rematches.

just my $.02

Not going to get into any arguments BUT any person getting involved in ANY kind of 'business' on a TAR match will never play in any CSI or TAR event again.

Why everyone thinks some one is stupid enough to do that s beyond me.

And the kicker is - the guilty player could be threatened with disclosure at any time. Sure looks like a bad decision to me.

Mark Griffin

Pretty sure Mike and Dennis didn't a saver setup. Unless it's a duel to the death. Although I hear Mike offerred to buy drinks that evening.

The TAR format is perfect. You get alot of world class pool for an affordable price. I'll never understand pool matches that go on for 15-20 or more hours. In my opinion that just determines who got better legs and endurance.

People seem to forget TAR is trying to make something marketable and watchable. Can you imagine trying to sell a stream that could be over in 60 minutes...or could go on for 3 days?

archer played great.
i think he won cause the tight pockets.
not sure if this is a praise towards ja's win
...or a downplay on svb's loss

it's just that your first sentence was compliment
but the 2nd one seemed a bit condescending.

no offense, just hard to tell on teh interwebz is all

I agree and the worst people it tests the endurance of is the viewers and fans.

The current TAR best of 3 races to 25 is just about the perfect balance of viewing length, long enough races to negate most of the luck, and honestly anyone who thinks that a person who wins 2 races to 25 is not probably at the least the better player of that weekend should really think twice about that.

There is no way a ahead set is ever going to work for TAR, a 20 ahead set between Johnny and Shane and we would have been even on Sunday night and that match might still be going on today. How the heck is that good for TAR, the viewers, or the players?

Thanks for standing me up.

Didn't mean to, haven't made it to NY yet, still on my way through there tomorrow, but just passing through, on the way up to Boston to drop off my last Diamond. Once that's done, I'll be headed back to Elmhurst to spend a few days rebuilding a GC3 there for my friend Dave, once there lunch is on me:grin:

Guys,

Don't get too mad at Dom. He has much reason to be cynical. This type of thing HAS been going on for ages even before the International Challenge of Champions scheme that brought pool's dreams to it's knees.

I'm sure many others have had similar thoughts without voicing them. I seem to remember even Justin making similar comments (with a lot more tact though) a few years back when someone else was doing some exhibitions. Galveston maybe.

Mark Griffin and TAR are prolly the only game in town that could pull off legit exhibition matches, because of the package that CSI brings to the table. It's stronger than cat piss.

I REALLY like the format TAR is using except I would like to see shorter races and more sets.

TAR, I hope you guys are covering the nut and continue to for a long time.

Ray

Thanks.

I made my statements based off of another member's comments that these exhibition matches may be dumped because it's a multiple day event, so each player can see where the money is being laid and the props.

Many have mentioned that they never seen SVB play the way he did on day 1. He wasn't his usual self.

After day 1, JA was up a set. Money could have went back to JA seeing that SVB was the favorite.

2nd day...SVB destroyed JA and entrusting the betting community that he will prevail.

Last set...JA rightfully wins.

This is an exhibition and it's not hard to come up with the scenario considering how JA was talking it up with the crowd and both players have no money invested.

I would make it out as a paid vacation if I had to play my buddy.

Without FACTS, the imagination can run wild about almost anything;)

Who really cares who the best is. The "BEST" is a moving target...ever heard the term any given sunday..

The guy getting paid a few thousand less for 2nd place cares... so does the guy who wants to prove he's the best player in the country. If we focus 100% on entertainment value and 0% on "may the best player win", we might as well switch to 7-ball.

How many races to 100 have you watched in your lifetime...be honest?
