9ball World Championship, Doha, Qatar 2012

I think Darren should act like that after every game he wins. Hell, he should express himself like that after every ball he makes.

Not a fan of throwing cues and jumping on tables, but grats to darren.

Probably one or two users on this forum might ever get to feel anything close to the emotions that just ran through this guy. The ultimate high of being so far ahead in an alternate break format, 9 ball WITH the Magic Rack, FOR THE WORLD TITLE, AFTER WINNING BACK TO BACK US OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS, it was all but over. Then to watch it completely slip away and go hill-hill, hit a poor safety on the 2, then get a chance to JUMP IT IN and clear the table for the win?

I take that back, none of us will ever experience that. I'm surprised the cue is still in tact.

It was an edge of your seat final with a fitting celebration. Congrats to both players no doubt, they showed massive heart. This was awesome!

Darren averted the most colossal blow-up in world tournament history by winning that last game. He needed all his heart to do it though, and that is what wins matches and tournaments. Wen played great in his come back, making everything and playing perfect pool. I never pray, but I prayed for Darren on that last rack and he held it together. The jump shot on the two was superb with all the pressure on him and the run out was tricky too. Hat's off to DARREN APPLETON - World Champion! :clapping:

Just to clarify...there was no tact.

Pure emotion, understandable.

I think those feelings are a major contributor to why it is so hard to stay on top. For every high, there is a low and all that...

Incredibly awesome match. Glad to have witnessed it.

Congrats to Darren for his $40,000 win in the World 9 ball Championships. IMO he is one of the best pure pocketing of balls in the world. It seems like he just plays position to see and get the right angle on the next ball. He seems to care less about the distance of the shot. One of the best back cutters out there. WTG Darren. I dogged it!:o
I leaned over in my chair more than once to see if it was a snooker.

Nice win, Daz.

...and Mr Wen is a great player

I saw Lee He Wen play before and i knew he has future, i bet $100 on him with you but i guess it did not work it is way to you??

What an amazing match! Someone should rebroadcast this finals match in English on tv, I think it would get strong ratings.

I meant to say "intact", as in I can't believe the cue wasn't shattered to shreds because the win was so epic it certainly warranted it ;)

I can gurantee Lee He Wen would have done the same thing had he pulled away with the win. Darren shook his hand and hugged him with what appeared to be sincerity. I guess people will always find something to b1tch about.

And what a difference can make just a simple result-coverage and a live-stream...

I remember the 09 championship in Doha won by Bustamante went on almost unnoticed and we never watched his awesome performance (he pretty much destroyed everyone by quiet a margin)

Yeah and I bet a $1,000 on Darren with you against Wen. Did you get it?

Darren looks to be the next Ralf Souqet and will eventually win everything at least once, and many titles a couple of times.
