He might have a specialty in aiming/sighting, but his lessons are all encompassing. When I spent time w/ him in Minneapolis, he helped me with a number of things-- not just sighting.
I think you're cutting him short not calling him a professional teacher--- he's extremely knowledgeable and a great teacher. I know he focuses a lot of Perfect Aim (that's his niche), but he's not just an aiming guy.
Anyways, I'll leave it at that. Hope you had a good 4th.
Your right, aiming is my niche and pool had been waiting forever for someone to get it right. there are a few good aiming systems out there and most players know what they are.
Perfect aim is easy to use and is just the way we naturally see things. Kind of like aiming for dummys. showing players at all levels where the darn sight is on those round pool balls. Exactly where it is. So they can envision each and ever shot Perfectly.
Right now i'd have to say my personal lessons with perfect Aim are pretty much 100% successful. Every single one is a home run.
On the other hand, how do you not fix a flat tire when someone brings you their car for a tuneup. I fix alot of flat stokes and stances to say the least. And i get it right for the player.
When I do the Perfect Aim lesson i start with the dominant eye. This tells a player where the stance starts. everything centers around that.
It's all about the dominant eye.
Once that is is the correct place the stance and stroke will follow. How can you fix a crooked stroke if the eyes are not in the correct position. They can't even see if it's straight if the eyes aren't right..
Once the eyes are correct it's amazing how that stroke starts straightening out naturally. the reason it is crooked is because they can't see that it's crooked. It looks straight to them.
Many of the players that I work with at all levels have never had a lesson in their lives let alone from a professional. This leaves the door wide open for many things needing to be tweaked to put the whole package together so we can consistently pocket the balls.
So many times it's not so much their aiming that is keeping them from playing better but the stance and the stroke. So I help them fix that.
It's not rocket science. But you do need to have a clue.
I think that the BCA instructors around the country are a great asset to the pool world. There are alot of players out there that need help and these guys travel all over also to help whoever they can. Plus they had alot of guys everwhere so that a player can usually travel to one.
I couldn't tell you the number of times that I'm giving a lesson to someone and Scott Lees name comes up. The player had a lesson from Scott once upon a time. He's been around and done a ton of lessons. If he wasn't any good at it he wouldn't still be doing it.
Do you want your car fixed by someone that fixes one a year or someone that fixes 500 a year. need i say more. you get the point. Practice does make Perfect.
The players tells me, He's just as passionate as you are about the game and enthusiastic. They say you can tell he loves to teach this game just like you.
This is what it is all about. Having fun out there and helping players.
Getting that big smile when you teach that player something that they have never seen before.
And i really get a big smile when I teach Perfect aim because every single player on the planet that I teach says.
I've never seen this before. Not on a video, book of the internet.
How can this be.... i say, just enjoy it and play better pool.......
