At first I was like, Man, that guy can play a guitar, then when he started singing, I started smiling. Thanks for making my day. I wish I could recreate the day my Cajun brother in law took me on my first crawfishing trip. It is worthy of a story if I haven't already written it for AZB.
The GingerBread Man ain't no crawfish. He's more like one of those Great White Sharks.....
Thanks for the song. I would watch Tab Benoit play anywhere. I didn't know him before today.![]()
What? Why no jump cues? WTH?
Not in One Pocket! You want to play me, leave it in your bag or no game!
Well.... you all were close to having a game. How about he only gets to use it every other game? Just trying to help you guys. John B.

John,
I have never used a jump cue in a one pocket match. I was just teasing Jay about why one wouldn't be allowed. I can see he has thin skin so I won't tease him anymore.
But as to his prowess at the pool table: The guy is a legend in pool. He has beat many champions with his talent. Jay has been around the best pool players in the world. You learn from being around great players. Jay is around great players ALL OF THE TIME.
For crying out loud, the guy has a pool table in his house. World champions camp out at his house. You learn things when you have champions staying at your house. Jay traveled the seven seas gambling at pool and still travels the world, gambling in pool rooms that he has never seen before and ones that most of us will never see. Jay even admits that he has been practicing for our little match. I know he will be ready but that doesn't bother me because that is what I expect from a guy who lives and breathes pool. And if you don't think he can play, just read his book, "Pool Wars". It's filled with real accounts of him snapping off player after player.
If any of the readers of AZB believe his tale of woe about being the underdog, I've got some prime coastal swamp land to sell you here in Louisiana.
OMG Smokey Bartlett! Where is that SOB?
See you on Saturday. Show me the money!!! :wave3:
Aren't there other hotel rooms close by this casino that are available? I thought I remembered someone saying something about that.
Smokey was from Austin I believe and stayed in Houston for some time. He'd hang out at the Cue and Cushion. This was in the early 1990's. Man, I loved when that guy was around the pool room. Funny and very interesting and a true champion in his own mind. He'd always show me things and shots and moves, etc. I'd always buy him drinks of pay his time or loose a few bucks betting him he couldn't make crazy jump shots with his shaft only. And don't worry, he would jump the stack in action with regularity. Overall, I liked the guy but some others didn't.
Funny thing is I hadn't seen Smokey for at least 15 years and so about 4 years ago I ran into him in Jacksonville, FL. I was there on business and stopped into Bankshot Billiards. Just so happens the local weekly tourney was kicking off. So I signed up and won my first two matches. Thought I was hot sh!t and everyone in the room thought I was a champion. So I was really hamming it up using my "Jeremy Jones" imitation pre shot routine and stroke. Man I can really look like I can play when I do that.
Then out of no where like a ghost I saw Smokey sitting there watching my third match. I got destroyed by Neil, who I found out is a very solid player. He beat me like 7-2. Smokey said he wasn't playing anymore and I believed him. We sat around and talked for a few hours.
Bankshot is a nice place with lots a good players.
