Players HXT 12.75mm shaft

Got a new stick with the LD HXT shaft, states it's 12.75mm.

Thing looks and feels like at LEAST 13mm.

Anyone measure the diameter of one of those? Don't have a template to measure with or calipers, but I have played with a lot of shafts, and know what a 13mm and under shaft looks like and feels like, and this shaft is way too thick to be 12.75mm.

I wanted to get one for my own stick but don't want to blow $80-100 getting something that ships with random diameters.

tape measure

12.75 mm = 0.50196850393755 inches red neck terms is a frogs hair
over 1/2 in tape measure will work

How many mm in 1 inches? The answer is 25.4.
I assume you are converting between millimetre and inches

beer can is 56mm

I don't trust myself measuring with a ruler or a tape. Maybe with a string marked off, but then I'd need to use something not very elastic.

I just got one for my McDermott and it is a little smaller than my 13mm that came with the cue. I didn't measure it so I cannot tell you if it is .25 mm smaller.

Once you start measuring in beer cans, you've officially joined the Red Neckian Society.

If you put up a 13 and a 12.75 side by side you will see a slight difference.

But .25 MM is not much at all.

Mike, how many .25 mm go into a beer can. I don't have my guzzinta machine handy.

They started drilling the stupid metric system into our heads early in public school and I understand it slightly more now than I did way back when.

If it wasn't for my dual calipers, I'd be lost.

I had to buy metric tools. I've worked on things that I swear were half and half. Or maybe I was using the wrong wrench.

I've been looking for metric screw drivers for years now and can't find em anywhere.

It could just be the taper. I seem to remember my first cue, which was a players, having a more of a straight taper than I use now (or maybe just a shorter pro taper?). I don't know about the HXT, but if you are used to a very long pro taper, a straighter taper would feel a little bit thicker than you are used to.

My HXT was supposed to be 12.75mm but it arrived at 12.89mm.
Neilsen Billiards said they would replace it with a 12.75mm if I sent it back.
The 12.89mm plays too good for me to take the chance, but you could possibly send it back for a hand measured 12.75mm shaft.
Take it to a store or acquaintance that has some calipers and measure it to be sure.
Do you like it?

I got it for my son, and he likes it, but did say he wanted it a bit thinner. I think I will get the "skinny" HXT for my cue, see if he likes that, I may just get a second shaft for him. If the skinny is also a bit oversized, would be perfect.

I wonder if the 12.75 could be made smaller?

Lazer let me know how those shafts hit. I bought a g note custom and still miss my 80 dollar players sneaky or my 300 dollar joss sneaky

I guess Players just introduced it's skinny HXT at 11.75 with a pro taper not conical, Seyberts, $95.

Hey Scott! That stick hits nice, everyone that tried it liked it. I don't like the diameter much but I think the "skinny" model with the 11.75mm tip would be better.

My son's stick which I think is the highest end model for the series was like $140 with shipping, wood to wood join, classic design. Just the shaft is $80 online. Worth getting I think. Going to order one for my Ned Morris cue soon. This shaft design and price, and the fact that it comes with a Kamui Black tip is the "killer app" for Players I think. This shaft will go places.

I'm torn between my HXT and Tiger ProX. I interchange these every other week, so I'm going to try the skinny HXT.
