You want standardized rules you have BCA and the World standardized rules. I too have played pool in numerous bars in the US and Canada, the first thing you ask are what is the house rules?

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out, Call shot, call pocket, is the 8 neutral, Ball in hand? So what?

His rules were so confusing and fraught with peril when playing the imbibed types that physical conflicts were possible.

Now if you are not interested in reading his ENTIRE manual I have nothing more to say to you.

I wonder how often Thiager does the "Ram" shot or "Shooting from the hip"?
 
As an extreme beginner, his rules, his terminolgy, and his.. ummm different shots were alot more confusing and migrane inducing than any other rules I have read or followed, to include different house rules. I didn't find the difference in rules confusing until I read what he (they?) put together.

So, you've played in North America only? As I said, I've played all over the world - it's a rather big place, buddy, and the last time I checked, the rest of the world were giving your lot a damn good thrashing at pool. Maybe you could learn a thing or two from us, eh?

You're the problem here - you won't yield. You like what you have and you don't want to change. Newsflash, buddy - NOBODY likes change. Don't think what this guy has produced - think of the principle behind it.

Well, no. Some of us want the rules to be as much like the way they have been as possible with changes only for fairness, clarity and to take care of changing tactics which require new rules. Some of us welcome the standardization of the rules even if they're not quite what we would like to see.
 
You are clueless, READ the manual, and get back to me after you have educated yourself, or go back to NPR where you belong.

To provide a template for pool. A mission statement. A strategy. A one stop shop. Yadda yadda.

Don't you think the idea has merit, if it was well written, clear and unambiguous? If it was agreed, ratified and published by the world's pool authorities, and promoted as such? If it was used as a reference document to explore new markets and cement existing ones?

A business plan for pool is long overdue.

I guess I see thaiger's point. If the guy isn't intentionally trolling, then all he's doing is to try to make a standardized set of rules and terms, with the rules based on common bar rules and the terms based on. . . . .. . .

So we have an almost even split between 1. A moron 2. A troll 3. A newbie trying to be of some help to newer newbies; very interesting.

My choices were a crazy person that doesn’t know the difference between “better” and “different”. The funny part is that we have some votes in the odd ball columns. Thanks everyone for voting; in retrospect I should have done 3 and not 2 I should have added the A newbie trying to be of some help to newer newbies category to my other 2.
 
So from this one topic alone I find Thaiger to be very annoying. He refuses to read the guide and is formulating opinions on a topic he obviously has no idea about.

Therefore I will consider all of his future posts to be stupid and gloss over them since I have better things to do with my time than read his meaningless retardedness.

And, if he was intent on trolling for trolling's sake, wouldn't he think of a more anonymous username second time 'round? I would hazard a guess he's young, idealistic and expecting to take the game of pool by storm.
