FINALLY learned how to deal with the smoke and still play at a higher level.....

MDI is a metered dose inhaler. Such as Ventolin or Xopenex used for copd and asthmatic patinents. As far as mdi abuse I would assume you meant over the counter drugs. Anyway, if you have either of these conditions a rescue inhaler perscribed by your doctor, should always be carried with you.

Yes, I know the various drugs that are in them very well, of course. That's why I asked.

No, I didn't mean OTC. Kids and young adults are noted to abuse prescription MDIs. In fact studies indicate around 25% of teens abuse their prescribed MDIs.

.

To be honest Chopdoc I did not know that fact. Its a shame when anyone abuses any medications. Anyway hope all is well Geno I enjoy reading your post.

..why the delay and secrecy? Don't tell me you're going to try to sell it to us...

It Plagues many players out there. We do everything from wearing a mask to putting toilet paper up our nose.

I've tried even putting vaseline in my nose.

What are some of the things that others have tried to help cope with the smoke.

For the last 3 years trying to play, my game would go in the tank almost immediately when breathing in cigerette smoke. Usually taking about 3 to 4 hours to destroy my level of play altogether.

In the last 2 minths of traveling on the road and playing in the smoke I have finally found the secret on how to deal with this and not have it be as huge of a factor .

I'm at Breakers right now in Mobile Alabama where the smoke is as bad as anywhere especially when it's packed like this weekend.

The smoke doesn't effect me like it did a month ago. I still don't want to stay in it continuously, but for the most part my level of play is not effected by this.

What I will share with you all will explain why so many of us that play well and don't smoke go to these smoking tournys and just bomb out.

I will share this huge secret on Monday:rolleyes:...........After Breakers............

Have some fun with it everyone. See if you can figure out the answer.

:) Good Luck geno..........

Ummm? You pulled ur head out ur arse and realized it wasn't the smoke making you lose??????

Thank You ,,,,I nailed it!!!!!

I don't think that's it. If his head was up his ass, he would have even more trouble breathing. On the other hand, that's not very sound fundamentals.

But seriously, not posting your solution in the first post is a bit tacky (as far as I'm concerned). Not a huge deal, but I'm cranky today so that paints your action in the proper light (as far as I'm concerned).

Fatz

No kiddin. I hate waiting till the end of a movie or book to find out how it ends.

There are things I am trying so hard to get used to when playing pool in Vietnam

- the smoking: there's literally no 'no smoking' signs, every guy smokes.
if a pool hall decides to ban smokers from their place, it'll be empty and closed down.

- the drinking and noise: i usually see a 2-3 people top per table in Australia. Not in Vietnam, we have 6 guys on a table, every of them drinks a lot of beers, cursing all over the place, noisy as hell. Imagine you preparing for a money shot and their yelling just startles you. (good training for focus?) Now to shut them up, the pool halls decide to play some really loud music, crappy Vietnamese pop songs, makes me wanna vomit!

- ill-mannered players who always stand in your line of shots, trying to mess up your games. beware of those asian players, they just cant sit down after their turn.

Maybe I'll need a gas filter and a construction noise cancelling headphones!

Sounds pretty tough............

I feel for you there.

Now we know why there are no champions coming from there.

Or is there?

Geno, perhaps you are not aware of my newly developed odor management system, Perfect Smell. With this amazing discovery, I have been able to help many otherwise great players deal with all kinds of malodorous emanations arising from their opponents. Not only cigarette smoke, but also body odor, bad breath, stinky feet and even noxious vapors emitted from posteriors (otherwise known as "fart sharking").

I intend to go on the road with this system, but in the meantime, I believe I can help you over the phone while you are at the table. PM me if you are interested and I will give you my cell number.

BTW this is NOT an aiming system, but I can guarantee your aim will improve significantly if your eyes are no longer crossed.

Thank goodness in Arizona, Bars, Pool Bars, Sports Bars, and Pool Rooms are smoke free, otherwise you use to need one of these suit to deal with the second hand smoke.

That's great..........

Maybe we can work together on this one.

Here's the secret..........

After being in the smoke for about 40 days on almost a daily regularity I have figured out how to play well and be in the smoke.

You need to play in it all the time. This way you get used to being sick. your level of health will drop but it will become your normal.

the nose will still burn, your eyes will burn and your lungs will feel terrible but you don't notice it as much because it has become just the way it is.

For those that have quit smoking and for those that smoke. Remember the first time you took a hit from a cig. It was horrible , hurt your throat and made you kind of dizzy.

Once you smoked for a few days it didn't happen anymore. That's because you were feeling sick all the time but it was just your norm.

This is kind of what is happening with players that come from these non smoking rooms. They are really used to feeling healthy that the drop in the smoke condition is just too overwhelming.

I even kind of gag on some food now. It just tastes terrible. Now i remember how good the food tasted when I quit smoking back in 1986.

So by subjecting yourself to the second hand smoke on a regular basis you can play at the level your accustom to. Your health sucks big time but you can compete at your highest level.

Most of us in these non smoking state don't even have the benefit of being in the smoke to get conditioned for this but who would want to.

I'm going to Florida next and then to Texas to work on my video. Then to the Texas State tourny.

When I breath the breath just wants to push right out.

This sucks big time but I can play pool.

I guess it's just a matter of if I want to stay alive or not.

I recommend everyone to just not go to these smoking tournys if your in an area that is no smoking and your not used to it.

You won't be able to play at your competitive level you can to have a chance to win. So why even come.

And if you came anyway don't plan on winning.

just get ready to remember how it was to be in the smoke everywhere in the USA before the the people learned how bad it was for everyone.

Just consider yourself lucky you live in a non smoking state.

This is the secret. ..............

here every bar is a smoking bar... but we found a trick... its called... WINDOWS.

for tournaments or league matches, smoking is forbidden (there could be children)

@sloppy pockets: you wrote what i thought lol

The problem with pool rooms and bar smoke is it collects on the filters of the AC, and the smoke cleaners (if they have any), and the norm is no one of these places cleans their filters regularly, which makes carcinigens collect so 2nd hand smoke becomes more dangerous than regular smoking, and that is where cancer grows, get transmited to the body via lungs and goes in blood stream and finds a resting place and grows. The data is overwhelming and it is the reason to ban smoking in every state. Stay away.

When did Bloomberg start playing pool? :lmao:

This way you get used to being sick. your level of health will drop but it will become your normal.

So, it's like being old then? You can function OK in spite of all your infirmities because you're used to feeling that way all the time. Got it.

I think I need to move to a non-aging state.
