There is a six by twelve snooker table in the room I play in. A Dufferin. Same as the cues I guess. Humbling to say the least! Golf ring games mostly. Question is approximately how much distance does cue travel on a long three railer and again on a four railer? I estimate 30 and 40 ft. for those shots but I know the math whizzes out there can put a pencil to it better than me. Thanks in advance.

Don't know-but sure is pretty to see those kicks gently nudge a ball on the correct side, after all that distance.

If you are going to play on that 6x12, I suggest you get a snooker cue.
...or a Predator Z shaft works well also.
The game is just too tough not to have the right tool.

Snooker cue!

May be true. I can't shoot with skinny shafts and I think snooker cues have those and also brass ferrules. These big tables are huge equalizers as far as player skills go. So far no one has showed up with a snooker cue and dominated the game. You could be the first! I jumped on the LD bandwagon but I fell off and waved goodbye! Although my Bob Dzuricky cue has a graphite insert in the business end so maybe I am an LD guy! LOL. Plays much more like a normal shaft.

30 ft.

3 rail shot: (approximately)
2 runs of SQRT(8**8+6**6)
2 runs of SQRT(4**4+3**3)
or
10+10+5+5 = 30 feet.

Thanks Mitch. When table was first set up we all tried to see how many rails we could hit. Seven was all we could do!

I hate brass ferrules...and overly stiff shafts with the British taper.
My snooker cue has the same taper as my pool cue...it's a carom taper.
....but the tip is 10.4
I aim the same way at a snooker ball as I do with my pool cue at a pool ball.
...it makes switching painless.
And I use the same fiber ferrule.

You can get pretty good at snooker using a pool cue, but you will never
find out how good you can play it till you get the right tool for the job.

It's like golf, use the right club for the shot.
You can get pretty good at approaching a green from a 100 yards with
a four wood....but a guy with a wedge will rob you.

Would you use a snooker cue when playing golf on a 6x12 using regular pool balls instead of snooker balls?

No, I would use a pool cue for pool balls.
But I don't like using pool balls on a snooker table....
...the rails are the wrong height.

right on

rails are flat as well on the English table. the balls damage the rails. wouldn't allow pool balls on my English snooker table
