A dear friend of mine is trying to sell his 1990 Phillippi cue (date in the forearm) due to financial trouble. He really doesnt want to let it go but he never plays with it so im posting it up here for him.

I emailed Rick with the some pics to get some info on the materials and value and this is what he said in his email...

HI JESSE, THE WOODS ARE BIRDSEYE AND EBONY THE INLAYS ARE IVORY. SILVER RINGS. IT WOULD RETAIL IN MY SHOP TODAY FOR ABOUT 4500.00

THANKS, RICK.

The butt of the cue is 15.5oz
Comes with one shaft at 4oz
leather wrap
bought in 1990 at the SBE
under a hundred hours of play
stored properly in the case so no nicks or damages

The owner barely used this cue and you can tell by the color of the ivory. The only problem is the material in the butt has shrunk a little bit. I was told that it can be fixed for 75-125 bucks. Other than that its almost brand new. Please PM with any offers. He is asking for 3500. Thank you for looking

Please mind the photos.. Im not the best photographer...

First, you can only bump it up once in 48 hrs. Your post is in danger of deletion, or being locked.

Second what a cuemaker thinks his retail is, vs. real secondary market value, is sometimes quite different. You can ask what you want for this cue, it is your perogative, however you may want to do a smudge of real research before you post.

First my last post wasn't considered a bump. The owner brought down the price so I posted that. I didn't just say... bump to the top!!! Oh plus I was told it was 72 hours per bump by another member. So which is it?? 72 or 48??? Some confusion around these parts..

Secondly you are correct about pricing but knocking off 1500 off of retail pricing seems pretty sweet to me!! Its not my decision to barter or haggle with potentional buyers. That is soley up to the owner of this cue. He's an older gentleman that doesn't use a computer and he is asking for my help. Considering that we live in a place where nobody would buy this cue for 10 plus years he asked me for help.

So..... Sorry if it comes across as a bump but the price changed. Anybody that wants to haggle send me a PM and I will pass the offers along.

Thank you :-)

So JV.... What would you consider to be a fair offer than??? I mean obviously I haven't a clue of what I'm doing here so some insight would be great. Whatca think???

they just saying it would be pretty hard to sell this cue at this price
in my opinion it would be hard to sell it even at half of what you asking, market is real bad

Very understandable and I would have to agree but its up to the seller to adjust pricing and I'm sure he would if he liked it.

Owner now asking 1500 and nothing lower.. Just thought I would let ya know...

That is much more inline i would think. But im by no means an expert so take that with a grain of your favorite spice ;) GL looks like a killer cue!

I have been following Phillippi cues on here for several years. Ever since I had Rick do cue work for me when I lived in Maryland. I love Phillippi cues and think they are undervalued in the market. There was one for sale on here several months ago where he was asking only $700, but that is an extreme example. You have a nice cue but it needs a refinish and I think $1500 is a good asking price to start with. But you have to consider there is one shaft.

Good luck with the sale,

Ed

I told the owner to send it to Rick to be refinished but he can't even afford that. I told him it will sell quicker and bring up the value of the cue if you do. He just can't do it right now...
