I am really starting to think you guys need your own subforum to go play in.

I agree, enuf is enuf

If you dont like some ones thread, why would you waste your time posting in it?Better yet, Start your own thread, so we will all have something to read and comment on, if we find interest in it, if not, i for one will not post in it!

I have played in many tournaments the past 50+ years won a few, lost most but the one I am still the most proud of was in Viet Nam. I was on a large base called Chu Lai and we had a 9 foot table. Special services ran a straight pool tournament in 1968 and I won it. I still have the trophy they gave me. You can just refer to me as "International Pool Champion"

I never played in a single tournament except once in an old corner bar in an old coal town in Pennsylvania. I won first place...but it wasn't any kind of accomplishment.

I just couldn't play for trophies, you can't eat trophies, and there wasn't much money in tournaments back then.

I did "follow" a few tournaments, but that was just to play for cash, straight up.

Playing pool paid for my undergraduate degree, and that got me into medical school. I would have to say that the medical diploma on my wall is the greatest achievement of my pool career.

As far as matches. I played a few people that I have seen announcing on ESPN, endorsing products, and/or generally going places in pool I only dreamed about. Yes, I won a few of those matches too. I did a pretty good job at flying below the radar back then and my attitude is the same today, so I don't name drop. But I will say that the last "great name" that I played was Filipino...and though I won a couple of racks...no....I didn't win the match....and that was a long tome ago anyway, and it certainly wasn't in any "formal" setting. I am just a banger now, and have no aspirations to be anything more on the table.

Definitely, been following the progress pictures.

Looking most excellent.

So this means that with your own table to practice on, you're going to kick butt more than you do already?

Back in 2000 my 10 year old son won an 82 man field combined handi cap event on a toys for tots tournament. He was one of three people under the age of 18. This was 4 days after he turned ten years old. This was not a fluke in the finals my son a D player played the B player one set 6-3 race. B player runs 3 racks in a row and breaks dry rack 4. My son runs out. Breaks dry B player runs to the 4 and misses. My son runs out. Breaks dry and it's an ugly rack, B player shoots the 8 in the corner scratches in the side and turns shakes hands and we head home with a trophy almost as tall as him $1,200.00 At 3:45 AM and he goes to school that morning.

The following year we return to the toys for tots tournament and it's my turn. The field is a little smaller 62 I think but still a mixed handi-cap D-B. Me I'm a B, my son now is a C player. Well I get the hot seat. In the finals I play Jake the Snake (not a bad guy the name sounds good Jakes not a snake) Anyway Jake gets me the first set and I'm up in a race to 7 4-2 Jake plays safe with the 8 & 9 on the table he leaves me just shy of behind the 9 fully just below the side pocket with the 8 at the top of the table on the same side between the first diamond and the corner pocket. I know this shot. Jump the 9 bank the 8 in the bottom left pocket make the 9 and win the game. Well just like I saw it I make the 8 and it's almost a scratch in the side off the 9. I slow roll the 9 in the bottom pocket and win the game without scratching. Score 5-2. Jake can't stop talking to himself and I win the next 2 and the Tournament.

I go back to the pool hall I hang in and tell the guys how I did. Set up the shot again Bang make it again. This was with a full cue not a jumper. I had learned old school with a 45 second lesson from a guy that jumped over the full ball with a width of a cigarette seperation with his shaft.
Well that's one of my stories and glad I threw the part in about my son.

P.S The guy was laughing. He had to play the little kid, but found out it wasn't funny. You can't tell how anybody plays by looking at them so watch out for what your thinking.

As always straight-shooting and safe travels
