John Schmidt's and Corey Deuel's comments on aiming systems

I hate saying those things but it is what it is. He was implying CJ doesn't understand pool geometry. Makes my eyes bleed reading that crap.

Whether or not CJ, uses the correct "terminology", we should adjust our way of thinking to enable him to get his points across to us. This guy is a bonafide world champ trying to deal on our level openly and honestly. What's more is that he actually reads our questions and continues a dialogue where we can ask even more questions!

I'm with Dave, on this one. If CJ, doesn't articulate exactly how we think he should, let's adjust to his way of thinking rather than beat him about the head and ears with our "correctness".

Best,
Mike

Regarding the part in blue above: how can you possibly guess whether they're trying to use shaft deflection or english to affect the shot? (And, by the way, how does "shaft deflection" affect the shot?)

PJ, don't you suppose LAMas meant cue ball deflection caused by the shaft?

Yup,
Thanks.

"I, personally don't use "spin" to accomplish what I'm speaking of....I use deflection ....there's a major difference imho."
CJ Wiley

LAMas:
...it appears that they are using the shaft deflection to effect the shot
Me:
...how does "shaft deflection" affect the shot?
Roger Long:

Yup
In the context of this confusing discussion about terminology I didn't want to take anything for granted. Thanks for clarifying.

But I still don't know how CB deflection is "used" to affect the shot.

PJ, you are certainly a persistent cuss. I admire that in a guy, and Lou has been right there with you. It does not surprise me, that the A.S.S. (Aiming System Supporters) have risen up, in their usual attempts, to smite the mighty, sacriligious dragon, that they percieve HAMB (aka,NAYSAYER'S) to be.

Too bad JoeyA has his hands full with 'Isaac' or he'd be right in here I'm sure. Sincerely hope he and his family are out of harms way.

It is hard to fathom, that the A.S.S guys, have risen up, to defend their turf, over a few remarks by a few 'top player's...Over 500 posts (some of record lengths..All WITHOUT JoeyA, leading the charge...I am tired of typing already, but hang in there guys, it should be over in about 600-800 more...The A.S.S. have not even brought out the heavy artillery YET..I scanned through the thread, and did not see any of their infallable, proof positive, "Line Diagram's".

Good Luck in APA land, guys..They'll figure it all out someday...or NOT ! :boring2: :boring2:

Actually if you have read the thread, and done more then just scanned it you would have read a very civil discussion regarding aiming.

That is, until a HAMB APA 5 decided that he knew more about pool then C.J. Wiley.

You could try to be a bit more clever in stirring up the pot though since it seems to me that what you want to do, or you could review and comment on CJ's ideas.

I would prefer the latter, as I think there is something to be learned from all sides.

Justa...

Please accept my apology as it wasn't meant to knock any skill level. I was merely knocking someone of that level who thinks they know more than CJ.

CJ..if you're reading this, please come back to the discussion. We need you here and you have a large group of us who want to learn from you.

Although some of us might question some aspects, we're only doing so to try to understand what you're doing. Although that might be impossible due to the immense skill gap...we really want to try! Thanks CJ for trying to help & share your knowledge.

Justa, with your attitude, and willingness to learn I believe that you will go further, then the other APA 5 I was referring too.

Keep on hittin em....

Tony

p.s. and no I am not denigrating any APA player either.

Thank you.

With your storied past in this game, it would be nice if you could debate with CJ, but instead you decide to post as a bigger ASS than the A.S.S. guys. This is the aiming info section and PJ surely doesn't need your help, not the kind your providing anyway.

It appears to me that the Aiming System Mafia needs to spike their Kool Aid -- again.

Mike Dechaine recently won the Turning Stone Classic, defeating a strong field of players such as Dennis Hatch, Rodney Morris, Raj Hundal, Brandon Schuff and Shawn Putnam. When asked what aiming systems he uses, Dechaine replied: "Three methods. A equal pieces, I use my tip and a simple ghost ball method." While Mike didn't mention it, he has undoubtedly hit a million balls (HAMB) too.

There just might be something to the notion of Keep it Simple, Stupid (KISS).

No apology necessary Dave. I agree with you, in regards to Duckie and CJ. Completely.

I was referring to SDJ. His attitude towards others here is, and has been, disappointing. Especially from someone with such a pool history. Oh well...

Do you realize that people that use aiming systems also strive to HAMB .

Nope. The guys who like to stir the stuff in these threads cannot comprehend the fact that EVERYONE who tries to improve their game, by studying whatever method they choose to, knows full well that it is going to require practice, and lots of it.

Why these guys keep flogging that deceased equine is beyond me. :deadhorse:

As usual, you've missed the point of my posting so I'll repeat it without the HAMB comment, which I added in as an afterthought:

More than one person missed the point you were trying to make.

In fact I still am not sure what that point is.

All I know is you asked a touring pro what aiming system he used and you got a response. Based upon your post it appears he uses 3 systems

1. Equal Pieces (maybe a DD overlap??? Not sure)
2. His tip (again not sure what tip method he uses)
3. Simple Ghost Ball (well at least one we all think can figure out)

As far as KISS are you alluding that his 3rd method being the simplest is the one we all should use? If so why does he have the need for two other systems? Does he use a specific system for a particular type of shot? Or does he use all three together as a check off of each other? Of course with a little dig about Kool-aid and HAMB.

I guess this thread is becoming too peaceful for you. (My KISS opinion)

And SVB uses a stick aiming system, do you have a point of some kind?

P.S. maybe you've been drinking too much spiked Kool aid - AGAIN
