?? $3,000 Viking Cue ??? NOT..........

This looks to me like a John Guffey era cue but I am not 100% sure. If it is it should be at 600$ range price depending on how palyed and beat it is. Maybe he thinks he's gonna make a fortune with it. Is his right to ask...

LE: It can easily be a VM series (VM-16 variation) I found one in my collection with green veneers it looks exactly like this one.

It is a Viking A160 variation...circa mid 80s. Certainly not an ivory joint. Your $300 offer was very fair.

That's what I would do.

If he really tries to get what he is asking then he is looking for a sucker. Does he intend to rip somebody off?

I don't deny he was probably given bad information. I have had people bring me Chinese cues that they were told were Balabushkas by an "expert" at the local pool hall.

Typical Ebay ad "I don't know anything about pool cues but I took it to the local pool hall...". You find lots of pool players in pool halls....and once in a great while a real cue expert. But they'll believe anybody in a pool hall...LOL!

No....it is an "A" series which dates back to 1983. The small round bumper does not date the Viking cues to any earlier...it is the small round bumper that dates Meucci cues, not Viking. The "A" series was the first series after the window Viking cues, which is what would date a Viking to earlier than 1983.

And now... For the rest of the story...

The cue is indeed from 1983. I sold one similar to it not that long ago (link below). The 3 point vaneers of the craigslist cue are most likely WICO vaneers. WICO was a chicago based company that employed Bob Muecci to work on WICO vaneered, 3 and 4 point, spliced forearms that Viking bought and used in the late 1970s and into the 1980s to construct such mentioned A series cues.

On a side note, I have a 3 point WICO vaneered cue in my collection that i would let go for a mere $1,500 due to how rare it is. :rolleyes: lol

I "Made an Offer" on that brunswick, ebay allows 3 tries to make an offer, i made one offer for $150, the next one for $165 and the final one for $166, i wont if the seller see's my offers. =)
