beard books

thinking of getting a beard book. banking with or the gospoo. what do yall think about these books?

Awesome. The banking info is great, but the stories are even better, and the old photos too :) You won't be dissappointed !!!

Are they really mostly aimed at readers that play bank pool, or would they be useful for an average player who plays mostly eight ball and nine ball? I could definitely use some help with my banking, but if it's all bank pool strategy and safeties, I'm not so sure.

whether 1 pocket 9 ball 8 ball even 14.1 if you have to bank a ball freddys books will help teach you how to bank a ball
yes the book goes into playing bank pool but the bottom line is it teaches you how to bank a ball

Second perhaps only ...

To Hayden Lingo's diagrams. Freddy's books are great - PH'd type stuff though - well worth the price but dont think you are just going to pick it up, read it and become a better banker. You really have to have the book at the tables and practice his banking diagrams. Also need to memorize quite a bit of information.

''Banking with the Beard'',,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,!

Both are "A must...) for any player that has a billiard library.

Freddy writes with a flare for anyone to understand. I recommend his books.

It does take some effort to fully understand all of Freddy's teachings, I am having a hard time comprehending some of it, but have picked up some real good stuff up this point. This is not a simple solution to learning his banking principles, what I mean is, gauging some of the angles and defining what is 1mm, using the eclipse view (I have a hard time getting down that low on the table), being able to visualize an extension of the diamonds off the table, etc. Some personal coaching and interaction would be a must for someone like me. I guess I'm a little thick headed when it comes to this stuff...

I think Freddys 2 books are simple to understand. The diagrams are straight forward. Yes their is a lot of info to try & memorize, and you probably never will memorize it all. But if everytime you pick up either book you learn one thing it's worth it.
Yes the books are mostly about banking which I like because you have to be able to bank to shoot any kind of pool game. Plus most other pool books are about the basics of pool. And once you've read one you've read them all.
I've got both Freddys videos too & in my opinion the books are 100% better. The reason why is you can use the books where ever you are (pool hall, couch, car, lunch break, bathroom.)

I personally like them very much, and highly recommend them.....Oops I guess that is a little too self-serving. Please pardon the brag.:)

I have "Banking with the Beard", an autographed copy that I bought at Loree Jon's Pool Tables Plus in Greenville, SC. I highly recommend it. I plan on getting "Gospool" later on.

Thanks all for the high praise and recommendation of this book. bought it,
read it, less than a few days old. 20 dollars shipped. read all the recommedations from this post. all spot on. great book.

You apparently bought it used because the retail is $29.95 plus shipping. Fortunately for me, most people who buy it, keep it, so there aren't that many resold.

Does this guy even shoot pool? Because I can't believe he'd read it once & then want to sell it the next day. Unless he has a photographic memory.
