Number of players at Louisiana events

I knw the ABP 9-ball event had only 28 players.
He many did the 10-Ball have?

How about the amateur events - I think there were about 6 different events.

In all the press releases, they never say how man entrants. Interesting.

So - no one knows?

With all the press releases and hoopla, there is no acknowledgement of the number of players?

And no brackets!

Am the only one who thinks ths looks odd, after all ths is an 'ABP point event'.

The 10 ball ended up having 28 also.

As someone in the tournament-producing industry, most people do follow what's happening in the world in their industry. I do it in my business as well. I want to know who's doing what, who got what contract, and how many dollars the contract went for. This is only natural, I think.

In case you don't know, Mark Griffin produces the U.S. Open 10-Ball Championship in Vegas each year. I think that may be why he is interested in how many competitors there were in the 10-ball event.

That said, 28 competitors is a piss-poor showing. :embarrassed2:

From your post, I'm wondering who is really trying to "stir the pot". Mark's pro events are always well attended. He does his homework.

Louisiana has become a hotbed of pool. Attendance at a highly publicized event should draw a promoters attention. Was surprised at how long it took for someone to answer Mark's question.

So even if this tournament had been carrying Mosconi Cup points then they would not have met Matchroom criteria necause they only award points for players who play a match to get to the Last32.
So the event would have been disqualified.
 
So all the Dragon/ABP guys were thee but where were the Tomato Cans that generally feed the others? Was it not an open event?

First I was a "shortstop". Then "dead money". Next came "salamander". Now a "tomato can". How many nicknames are there for us kinda, sorta, not quite pro players? You know, field fillers :grin: :rolleyes:.

I especially like the "dead money" line. Every time I read it, I picture the Progressive insurance commercial with Flo, and the other employee dancing around in the dollar sign outfit. Flo keeps telling him "go big money"....so now its "go, Dead Money"

I know, I'm twisted like that. :p

Having never traveled to the UK or the Continent, how are entries allowed in your pro events? Is it like Snooker where you must be seeded? Do you have local qualifiers? Open events? Whats the story?

Whatever you call them-why weren't they there? Was there some restriction?

Turning Stone gets 20 top players, 20 real good players and then Epey, DiBuono, Dunsmore and about 80 more Tomato Cans. Why not in LA?

Any chance a player had to be a "member" of ABP? Perhaps they required new players to sign a membership agreement? Perhaps the economy sucks?

Wait till I see "Chicken Man". He's a "tomato can"? Last I remember, he won the 2011 SBE Pro-Am event over Hatch and Dechaine. Do you mean Empey? Gary will be thrilled as well! Why can't we just be non-professional pool players?

I was just F'n around _Gary plays real good and Chicken Man is a legend and a helluva nice guy too.
