Who do you think Matchroom will take with their 3 wildcard picks? I'm 99.9% certain Darren and Van Den Berg make the automatic bids, so let's count that as fact.

Choose 3 on the public poll.

Snipped from Matchroom Sports, and I don't know if the points reflect the US Open:

"Only players finishing in the last 32 of each event will be allocated points and at the conclusion, after the 2012 US Open, the top two players will automatically gain entry to the Mosconi Cup side.

The remaining three players will be Matchroom Sport wildcard picks although the ranking will play a part in this.

The Ranking

1. ( - ) Darren Appleton (GBR) - 66
2. ( - ) Nick Van Den Berg (NED) - 65
3. (↑2) Chris Melling (GBR) - 56
T4. (↓1) Oliver Ortmann (GER) - 54
T4. ( - ) Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) - 54
6. (↑2) Dominic Jentsch (GER) - 51
7. (↑5) Albin Ouschan (AUT) - 48
8. (↓2) David Alcaide (ESP) - 47
9. (↓2) Mark Gray (GBR) - 46
10. (↓1) Bruno Muratore (ITA) - 45
11. (↑5) Dimitri Jungo (SUI) - 40
T12. (↓2) Ralf Souquet (GER) - 38
T12. ( - ) Daryl Peach (GBR) - 38
T14. (↓3) Niels Feijen (NED) - 36
T14. (↑2) Artem Koshovyi (UKR) - 36"

I think Melling is a lock for one. Then I'd imagine Ortmann. The 5th pick is really a speculation IMO. There's a # of excellent players to choose from: Alcaide, Gray, Souquet, Peach and Neils among them.

I'm thinking Alcaide as all the others I pointed out already have their country represented and Alcaide is higher up the points list.

Surprised most of the people on here think Ralf wont make it. He is the second highest money earning Euro on the AZB money list this year after Darren and 7th in the world based on the events that AZB uses.

The "only" reason I could see them "not" choosing Ralf is if they want to weaken the Euro team abit in order to give the American team a little more of a chance to make it close.

It would be a complete robbery to not put Ralf on the team after his 3rd place finish this year in the world 9-ball championships and 5th place finish in the China Open, both events with world class fields.

Do you have me on ignore? :grin-square: I said Ralf.

But I spelled his name wrong the first time. :embarrassed2:

I don't think there is much left to guess.

Chris Melling is 100% sure.
Ralf Souquet is 90% sure.
Oliver Orthman 70% - Niels 25% - Nick Eko, Jenstch... 5% but I don't think so.

Who wants to bet

I picked Ralf, Melling and Ouschan

I agree. However I think Niels Feijen has to be picked also due to his MVP last year.

Melling for sure, he's the 3rd ranked i think?

If Archer is in there with a poor ranking then Souquet will have a good chance

Ouchan will win if it's between him and Ekonomopoulus (however you spell it) I think Ouchan has the upper hand with his higher US open finish and he's been around longer.

Neils is awesome, I just think those three will get the nod.

We'll see soon I'm sure.

I picked Melling, Ortmann and Souquet. I really hope Oliver gets the nod. I've always been a fan of his.

Why so many picks for Dimitri Jungo?

What has he done this year?

There is only 2 votes for him.

He won the last 2011 Euro tour event and finished 2nd and 3rd in 2 events of the 2012 Euro tour series. He lose to Albin Ouschan in the semis of the last stop, just before the US Open, wich cost him his 1st place one the Euro tour ranking. He was number one of the ranking the most part of 2012.
