U.S. Open Checks Bounced???

Prize money

Shouldn't you pay from the top down first? I would be pissed if I won, or was in the top six planning on having a little extra cash so I treat myself while I am there, or maybe even gamble a little more because my bankroll is larger.

Time for Barry to not be a part of the Open any longer.

Not only did the top 6 players not get paid but alot of players down the line had their checks bounce the first few times they tried to cash them. I think Behrman is getting close to the fine line of fraud.

i think the US Open is a great tournament, but this nonsense has to stop. If that means Barry and Shannon stop running to tournament, or it going by the way side then so be it. These things cannot keep happening. The US Open has always been surrounded with controversy. It's truly unfortunate.

So you think it is better for no one to get paid because there is no tournament, than for a few people to get paid two weeks late because there is a tournament. hmmm.......

Not sure how someone could stand there with a smile on their face while handing over the trophy all the time knowing that they were not getting a check. Also he must have known that he was gonna be short of money before it even started. Even while he was sending press releases out stating the payouts. Just not good, thats alot of money to be short.

Neil, I don't think the Open will go away but it's pretty apparent that the Behrman's cannot handle it. They have plenty of sponsors from Pepsi on down. The money they collected from entry fees was $110,000. Don't what they get from the PPV. I am no businessman but it's seems that he is just in it for the show and they don't have a clue how to manage it properly. This has me thinking how Q-Masters has survived all this time!! I know there are alot of Behrman fans out there and I really love the event and appreciate his efforts but this has to be the end of his fantasy world of promoting. Where does the money go?

Jesters, Barry looked like he was ripped on the night of the final!! Almost silly and giddy!

He always looks like that :)

It's too bad that not more money is raised in marketing, long time event with some pretty huge players attending.

It's a shame that the 2012 event is ending in talk of more bounced cheques, not great plays by some of the best shot makers in the world.

I think if Barry wants to do another one (or if anyone would come) he needs to hire a marketing team to sell the event at the next level.
They should have started the day the event started on the 2013 event.

Pool really needs to step up and get some target advertisers outside of the pool world.

Hope it works out for the players, tired of seeing the guys that give us the great entertainment getting screwed over and over.

There goes the good will Barry built last year when he gave the impression he was doing everything he could to ensure the players would be paid immediately. One year later he hands SVB "the big check" with a smile on his face & deceit in his heart.

I'm grateful to Barry & the family for keeping this tourney going all these years, but it's about time he lets someone with more financial backing take it over now.

the sad thing is...

Really?? He didn't know he was $70,000 short? That tells us something, right?

I kept looking for the date to be one of those old threads that someone had revived for the hell of it. That being tha case, I like the idea of mark running it instead. I doubt its even plausible but it would definitely be an improvement.
