WRISTS - The "hidden power catalyst" of a great stroke or "just along for the ride"?

Dude, you seriously can't roll out all that bullshit and keep a straight face can you? If so, you really should be playing poker, not pool. Get your ego under control CJ, you're starting to come apart and it is going to cost you DVD sales down the road.

Can you take your angry negativity and hate away from a thread where people would like to talk about the subtle nuances of a part of the arm involved in the stroke?

I think some people on AZ are affraid of CJ in that he is stepping into their protected teaching space.

Never say stroke or wrist or aiming! Ever! Everyone knows there are only two or three AZ instructors and you don't have any business in their space!

How dare you have your own thoughts to share and help anyone improve their game! Shame on you CJ! Ha!

Plenty of people understand what I'm communicating.

You say that, and really have no idea what he teaches, or why, or how. Yeah, that's "real eyes" for you. If you want to instruct, then at least learn how to explain things so people can understand what in the world you are talking about. Your "wrist thing" is not unique to you. As others have already stated, it has been around for ages. You can't describe it because you aren't sure yourself just what you are doing. It's not some great hidden secret, but one would think you want to keep it one the way you try and describe it. The how and why of it is something that can be simply described in a paragraph or two. It took me forever to figure out what in the world you were getting at all this time, then it finally hit me. Same thing a lot of people already do.

Do you ever talk about Pool or just about my writing and your inability to understand? Plenty of people understand what I'm communicating. The reason you don't IS SIMPLE, you never try anything I'm suggesting.

I'm not doing anything fancy here, you can do the same. Describe your pendulem stroke or whatever lame stuff you do and I'm sure everyone will line up to experiece "Neil's Secrets to Mediocrity and Pool Purgatory" . I think you may have a "Best Seller" there and get you busy on something other than HECKLING me every day. :poke::groucho: 'The Game is the Teacher'

CJ, already have your DVD..........but I could use a sword.

I was already logging in to say that CJ has shown more patience and deference to others than I ever could, given the responses here.

When was it so wrong for a person to share their ideas and thoughts about pool here? Because he doesn't say things the way you would, or see things the way you do? There are many roads up the same mountain- we don't all have to take the same paths, or follow the same leaders.

Shame on you lot also, for making fun of him trying to sell a dvd. Anybody else who wants to sell a chalk holder, cue, plastic rack, t-shirt or pay for their next teaching road tour should be on your hit lists too, then.

No wonder we don't have any pros on AZB- the self proclaimed experts here can't stand the competition of thoughts and words.

I'm fast approaching 60, never will be the player I was when 27--but I set a few fires under good players ass'es when the money was down and bet pretty high as that goes--The other day while praticing I started thinking I wasn't releasing the cue as I did back when and started letting my wrist loosen up some--worked real well--making tough shots and putting the cueball back on the string--read the first of this post early today--practiced a little while and then started to play, and just ran a nice 92 ball run after the second inning of play--I'm gonna listen some more--thanks for the time ya giving KID..My 2 cents issued

Cj, please answer one question. Is your DVD mostly filled with instruction or do you do it like Bert Kinister where one has to listen through 10 minutes of his "car salesman crap" for every 5 minutes worth of actual knowledge gained? Sorry, actually, 2 questions. Where do I go to buy it? You've got me curious now, I'll buy a copy and check it out. I promise to provide an objective opinion of it. I'm guessing there's at least several things that will make it worth the purchase price and who knows, it may be a great knowledge bargain. I assume this is going to cover the inside english and wrist cock in detail.

Dude, its so ugly. Why are you getting so worked up over someone trying to talk about the involvement of the wrist in a pool stroke? Its crazy or something.

Dude, follow in the footsteps of English, use your ignore tool. Really. If I get to where I feel the need for your approval before I post, I'll PM you my posts before putting them up.

Chip,

I just turned 59 in Sept. & have had a bad eye for 20 yrs. Strokes okay, but whoever wants to stay still will get left behind. I've learned two(2) thing from CJ & am giving this a try tommorrow. CJ is the best thing to happen to AZB since I've been here. (6-25-12)

Keep it on the string,

Dude, its so ugly. Why are you getting so worked up over someone trying to talk about the involvement of the wrist in a pool stroke? Its crazy or something.

This statement applies to most any thread where someone tries to help.

Why must everything here get torn to shreds? It seems to be a requirement. Why can we not get a chance to read others opinions and theories without it turning "ugly"?

I know, I know...it's the net, stoopid. Sigh.

No to the ignore tool. More angry hate please........

I admire your game and I surely would love to get your DVD for free.
P.S. since I watched you play with Mizerak, an old video, and started copying what you're doing, my game got a lot better, so far this season in APA league where I play, I haven't lost yet and went up 3 skill levels in just 4 weeks!
This topic helped me understand more about that wrist thing that you do.

Are you serious? What, we're afraid that someone else will give away free info before we do?? If you only knew how absurd that statement really is.

CJ has 3 times more posts in this thread than anyone else except ENGLISH(who has contributed nothing). Care to sum up what you have learned from all those post explaining something simple?

As far as "protected teaching space", yes, that includes the whole fourms. Quite a few on here make it a habit of only correct info being put on here. That way, people can actually learn something if they really want to.

I appreciate your good intentioned advice as usual (notice I didn't use "we"). I'm ok with not excepting new ways of doing things or just having the opinion that "conventional ways are best" and leaving it at that. In many ways that makes life easier for those types of people and it's "reasonable".

My techniques are not conventional and unless someone tries them or incorporates parts of them they can't possibly know if they're effective. I know by the way people respond to me if they have tried them or not.

You may think that's "unreasonable", but I assure you I know the conventional methods AND have experimented with them through the years. I just need more and I need to use more "powerful" techniques than what conventional wisdom was offering.

I looked to guys like Omaha John, Matlock, Hall, Crane (Billy Johnson), and Jr Weldon for techniques and guidance. I incorporated them with Golf Instruction (Hank Haney, Tiger Woods coach) with Hank, who taught me about the wrist motion in golf and how it was the same as martial arts AND my pool stroke.

Sports/Games are evolving because of dividing and systematically improving the different components of the swings. Pool is still using "conventional methods" and even though the do work, the also can and will be improved.

The way the wrists/fingers/hands move in relationship to the stroke is something I know will give players positive results. Of course if someone doesn't have the ambition to try them that's their own business.

I'm only concerned with sharing information that enhances someone's REAL game of pool. Playing any other "games" is not in my agenda and playing "Video Pool" or "heckle the pro" is childish behavior.

On a positive note, I just got off the phone with Johnny Archer and I'm really excited about this years Mosconi Cup and I thank all of you for your support for THE TEAM. 'The Game is the Teacher'

I didn’t question your techniques. I questioned why you would cast aspersions on Pat, which is as far as *we* are concerned is the essence of schoolyard, childish behavior.

And the only thing I find unreasonable is when you say things like the average video camera can’t capture the wrist motions of a pool player or when you set up a straw man argument, like in the above.

Lastly, as far as I can tell, no one here is playing “heckle the pro.” What is happening is knowledgeable people are questioning some of your claims when you offer little in the way of supporting evidence or make assertions that are clearly illogical. That, when questioned, you come back with inscrutable psycho-babble does not help your case.

Pat is a fine player. You owe Pat an apology.
