AZB is running so slow tonight!

It was running slow today as well. I tried several different computers and Internet services. I thought it was my computers. All other sites are OK though!
Anyone else having a problem with AZB loading slow and saying please wait? Thanks.
 
At least it is polite and asks you to please wait. :)

But seriously, I did some database work this afternoon and again this evening to hopefully speed things up. We are still working on it.

I know that doesn't change the issue. Just know that we are aware and are still trying to figure it out.

It says waiting on AZB forum.com. To be exact. I really thank you for your response. I love AZB. It is the best pool site there is. And you are right it is polite, Thanks again.

This isn't specifically for you LnL, but for everyone who asks. The answer nearly every time is that if it's slow for you but other sites are ok, then everyone else is having the same problem. And if the moderators are doing their job (which they clearly are and have been), then they know.

Logged in to respond to a pm and took almost two minutes just to log in. Real so responding to the pm also.
Seems alright now, though.

I just wanted to see if other AZB'ers, were having the same problem. I know the Mods do a wonderful job. Best pool forum around, period.

Is the speed issue mostly when you hit the site for the first time each visit, or does it come and go all through your session?

The speed seems to slow down more the longer I am logged in.
Quick at first, so I keep thinking it's my computer.
Still not ruling out my system even though it's a new Dell, but I don't enough to troubleshoot the problem.

It varies, Mike. Just now it was real slow logging on and now it seems fine. Other times it's just the opposite.

I have to refresh my browser just to log in. And when I post something, or change the page it takes a while. I thank you for your concern and for having such a great Website!

If it helps diagnose it...

- It's random and happens throughout the session, not just the beginning.
- Once one page fails to load, usually several pages will fail for the next few minutes. It's rarely just one isolated link or post.
- It seems like it's either fast, or completely non-responsive. Rarely in between. In other words, if I submit a reply or click a link, and it doesn't go in the first 2 seconds, it's gonna time out. Every once in a while I get a surprise and it post successfully after a 10 second delay. But that's very rare.

It feels to me like something's overloaded, even though I keep hearing the server and connection are more than sufficient. Maybe we should all track the times when it happens, it may be during specific hours.

I can think of a lot of potential bottlenecks... inefficient forum software, server hard drive isn't fast enough, other server hardware like ram isn't sufficient, overloaded host... I've heard that on a public server, your site shares bandwidth with other sites... so even if your site isn't huge and popular, it might be unresponsive because it's on the same server as a more popular website.
 
Same thing here for quite a while now. It can happen when I'm trying to answer a PM or respond to a post, where it just seems to get stuck with nothing happening. I can wait it out (usually a couple of minutes) until it loads and posts or I can just get off the site and come back later. Typically if I'm not in a hurry and wait for it to post, then it will speed up after that.

This has been going on for some time now, at least a couple of weeks. I find myself going back to the Forum home page and starting over a lot of the time and hoping that it will speed up on my next post.
 
pretty much the same here - very slow to the point I must log off az then come back and it's good again, but just for a while.

then, the s-l-o-w-n-e-s-s reappears.

and if it helps, Mike, for me, this is the worst it's ever been.
