Bonus Ball

I used to be a professional high diver. Yes I got paid to jump around like a monkey into water four times a day.

Whenever we did shows or a season we would rent one or two apartments and all split the rent. There might be five or six people living in one small apartment and rookies got the couch or less.

I really hope that the players with BB are making similar arrangements and saving the cash. This all reminds me of the seasons I spent diving where my main goal was to get out without anything broken and as much cash as I could.

Sorry, but this will not happen. Surplus cash causes an intolerably painful psoriasis-like skin rash on pool players. The only solution is to distance themselves from exposure to any form of currency. Go to the DCC and visit the boat to see examples of this flight from cash.

How many pool fans now will actually be going to the Derby now because of the new scheduling? I certainly hope that there will be many.

Wow.

You guys really need to hire a PR guy then have him shoot the next person who posts on AZ.

Well, Justin, however you take offense to a simple statement, it simply was me wondering how many pool players would actually be making the trip to the Derby now that all of the Bonus Ball players are free to go! I sincerely hope that many do go because it was I who pushed the start date up and past the Derby. No offense should be taken.

We have stated many times that we want to try and co-exsist with the rest of the billiard world and i personally assurred you that TAR is welcome to our players, as long as it does not interfere with our show. We will continue to try our best but obviously, it is not going to be easy to avoid some conflict. I also voted to take the BCA weekend off but was out voted. I am a BCA player as well.

I'm still looking forward to seeing the start of this, I've enjoyed all the matches I've watched online so far. Good luck y'all in getting all the kinks out so it can start!

your problem VP is that you always sound combative and that Bonus ball is changing everyones lives. You reallly didn't think that DCC was gonna have a bad turnout because all the pool fans are rushing to vegas or staying home to watch Bonus Ball, did you???

When BB was scheduled to overlap with DCC, there were in fact many posts complaining about how that was bad because it could force top players to skip the DCC, which would be harmful to the DCC. Now, he says that BB won't overlap with the DCC, which will allow every top player from BB to attend. And people don't like that.(*) How's he supposed to make anyone happy?

Cory

(*) Yes, it's possible to interpret what he wrote as saying that few people would have attend the DCC when it overlapped with BB. But that's a crazy assertion and you probably have to be a little opposed to him to read it that way. The more logical interpretation is that by "many" he means that he hopes that "many more" additional people will now attend (i.e., fans of those who would have been at BB but now can go to DCC). General point: If your goal is to criticize, you'll probably find a way to do so.

Just because NO one has updated the website for something that has not even started yet is an indicator of the schedule adjustment but Jay getting confirmation from any of the Bonus Ball Pro's would sure be an indicator due to the non compete contract.

The bonus bball dude said there are no anti competition clauses in the contracts.

Perhaps, but also likely is the case that reality trumped arrogance and common sense prevailed. IMO.

It appears that I am not the only one taking VP wrong. This happens all the time, everytime he gets on a thread he pisses people off and comes across cocky, arrogant and combative. Just saying I am not alone and if I took it wrong I am sorry but I have just come to expect him being like that.

And....thanks for proving my point.

If you honestly do not understand the point I am trying to make then I dont know what to tell you.

As for "your" players if you guys don't get your shit together soon I suspect some of "your" players may get tired of changing plane tickets and trying to figure out just when they are supposed to find a place to live for six months.

LOL, I wonder how many more delays it will take before the players decide to just say "Call me when its actually ready to start"

Justin, I speak to many of the players daily and none of them echo your thoughts on the delay. Disappointed, maybe, because they are anxious to play.

It's out of Larry's control and everyone must realise that if the contractor can't get his project finished as promised, the schedule has to be delayed. Blaming Larry for having to reschedule is hardly fair. I actually would like to thank him for agreeing to schedule past the Derby.

I'm not blaming anyone.

I'm simply saying that from the outside looking in it looks like the gang who couldn't shoot straight. Thats not personal. Thats not a shot at any one person or group. It's simply what it looks like.

I am going to let you in on something I have learned through experience Barry. What a player says to you is not necessarily the same thing he says to everyone else. Crazy I know but it happens.

After the first couple of times or even at the very begining DO NOT SET A DATE! Get all your stuff dome and ready to go and once its ready call the players and tell them play will start in 2 weeks or 30 days. Even though its the "Contractors" who knows if they will be ready in Feb? What if they are not? Just seems like you should now be aware that these delays keep happening.

rushing everything

sounds to me like bonus ball has no patience and just wants to rush rush rush how about before you get all the players there and set dates you know for a fact you can follow thru with it. take the us open the integrity is being drug the the dirty because of accounatability. have everything in place before you set dates. justin dont you have a room in las vegas too. im wondering why you didnt jump the gun like them and promise a tar match before it was possible?? justin is great for the sport and i am thinking others should take his approach. justing is thankful for working with the players not talking like he owns them like i have seen in other statements from someone. i have been reading all of this and he and others can say what they wants but he wasnt wanting to work with any other tournaments before hand so why does he act like he cares now..

I just had something pop in my head.

There are obviously construction issues. I havent seen any kind of marketing that matches up with the prize fund you are paying. Why don't you guys just push it till April or May? Then you have time to work out all the bugs in the new place (shit always goes wrong). You have time to promote through any number of avenues and you can show potential sponsors around your new completed facility with time to get them on board for the launch?

I completely understand if you don't want to answer or dont know. Its just something that popped in my head.

In all fairness our first proposed match in the TAR room didnt happen. It wasnt because the room wasnt ready though. It was supposed to be Bartram and Dippy playing. The problem was they started playing the game a couple days early and Barts backer saw he was in a stone trap and changed his mind.

I understand 100% that shit happens. I also understand its much better to under promise and over deliver. Bonus Ball has lots of moving parts. The part that makes me scratch my head is why not simply give yourself room to maneuver ?
