Best Players In Baltimore

Never heard that name here in baltimore before, Iam thinking you could of been playing Buddy Dennis and thats the name he gave you, can you describe what the guy look like that you played.
Never heard of Jerry Hanna in Baltimore, sounds like Buddy Dennis again!
No, I knew Buddy Dennis. Jerry was a big guy and made a believer out of many folks around Southern California. He kinda dsappeared and I always wondered about him. Some thought he might have gotten in trouble with the law.
When i go down the pool hall tonite i will ask Vanover if he remembers that name.
Gary Played real strong, I beleive he was VA...
I gambled a lot at Jack and Jills from about 1998 to aorund 2004.. Thats just a guess. I seen a ton of great players in there. Tons of action. Lot of money. It was ruff around the edges. I watched players lke Leonardo Andam, Corey Deul, Ronnie Wiseman, John Kucharo, James Landria, Scott Frost, Chris Bartram, Denver Barger, Steve Moore, and the list could go on and on. This was a list of players who came threw gambling.
THe players I gambled with was, Tony Long, Carl Jones, Yen, Fat Wayne, Arron Nicodemus, The Late Jermey Montgomery, Max, Buffy, Chris MArtin, Red Hair Scotty, Littly Petty, Danny Green, Black Henry, Russ Parons when he was in town (I know he was from Newark) but he was in Baltimore quit a bit. I played Wayne Collins quit a bit. Mark Ford played some as well.
Tony Long Gets a Thumbs up from me, he is the best action in Maryland in my opinion, He is not the best player. But best action. He makes a game with anyone and everyone. Bets $100 to $5000.... Win or lose. He has a smile on his face. We have exchanged $20,000 over the years. Great guy.

Yes, Gary Flannery was from the northern Va. area. He was a wonderful Nineball player. I think he gave up pool for the most part and started a landscaping business. Gary made what I consider the greatest shot in Nineball history. Bar none! By anyone ever! It was truly an amazing shot.
I will try to discribe it. He and I were playing at a room in Rockville, Md. The third table from the front. This was the tightest table in the room and we were playing two shot push-out. Texas Express wasn't even heard of at that time. The eight ball was on the side rail up table by the second diamond. The nineball was on the bottom rail about a half of a diamond same side. The cueball was laying right over top of the nine so he was jacked up right over the nine to cue for the eight. Got the picture?
He pushed out toward the side rail so the shot would be straight in but he wouldn't be jacked up now. The cueball caught the tit and fell very close to the end rail. "Shoot again, Gary". I said.
He jacked up and smoked that eight ball in and drew his stone back to the exact same spot he shot from and the nine ball was now straight in the opposite corner. I couldn't believe it and unscrewed. "That's all, folks."
I saw Gary about fifteen years later and asked him if he remembered that shot. He did of course and told me he thought that was the best shot he ever shot in his life. It is without doubt the best shot i've ever seen.

I believe Gary Flannery (Little Gary) was from the Waldorf area...along with Chris Comstock, if we are getting that far from Charm City.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's Gary and Danny both came thru Tulsa. Both played good and were good people too. Gary had me go to hardware store to get a roll of elec. tape. I came back and he proceeded to cover the entire wrap of his Scruggs with black elec. tape. Whatever works. Good times

He showed me his method to banking vaguely on a piece of paper and I tried at my table at home and it is money in bank. He said he would play anyone in the world banks. He told me a story a couple months ago, said he was gambling with allen hopkins getting the 7 for three days and broke even, asked allen to play some banks n allen said the only way is if he gets 1 ball n the breaks. Jarbo said he told him ok but the game never went off because of an altercation with jarbos brother n hopkins about the game. So they packed up and went to south Chicago, got some good banks action and came home with suitcase full of money LOL

Do you remember playing Pittsburgh Mike Katsaris one pocket at hotshots on pulaski highway in Baltimore about 8-10years ago, you guys played a race to 5 for a 1000 or 2000, you had mike down 4-0, Mike came back to make it 4-4, in the hill hill game Mike went for a long rail bank shot and slammed it in the hole, then miss a straight in ball at his pocket, then you jump up and ran 8 in out for the money, i had nitemares awile cause of that straight in shot Mike miss, Now if YOU are not POOKEY then you wouldnt know what i was talking about. but that was the best 1pocket match i have ever seen!
I dont remember Charlies brother, but i believe every word that Charlie told you about Hopkins (cause i heard that story myself) and Chicago, I told you CHARLIE JARBO WAS ONE OF THE BEST BANK POOL PLAYERS THAT EVER LIVED!

I remember te good ole days at Jack & Jills in glen burnie maryland watching Mike "Geese" walk around the first table by the cash register wearing suspenders,bald head,& mustache and gambling for thousands one night at 2am ! What made this so great you ask!? He told a guy ," ill beat you for any amount one handed jacked up off the rail bet" ! This guy said bullshit bet and on the lights went! I watched geese run 5 racks straight and win the cash on top the light! I was in F-ing shock! Amazing
PS I think he sucked down a carton of smokes during those 5 games his oponet didn't get to shoot except 1 time lol

I miss old time Baltimore poolSteve Gumpfries (spell), iam pretty sure he was from Maryland, his life was cut short due to cancer ( i hope i have the rite man), i think he passed away in the 80s at a very young age, Vanover told me he was an hell of a player, i remember his name mention, but i never seen him play, Vanover knows a player when hes seen one!

Boy you got that rite, Geese was a magician jacked up, i miss that guy he was pure pool, i would rather watch GEESE play a set then any other pool player in the world, it was pure pleasure, he was a entertainer!

Whats your name 9ballking, Greenie used to wear that big money belt all the time, we all had to be very careful when The owner Ed Sukanis was working , he did not like no cussing and no bullshit, Ed ran a very tite ship, when Ed wasnt there the place was like a zoo anything went, and they had so many different ways of gambling at Bill n Billies.
