"Bata" vs "Pangit"

At first I thought it was you shooting and said to myself "He's not half bad". Then I recognized Efren and decided "He's BAD!". Sorry I didn't see more of you. Thanks for posting the video.

Here is a pretty good example of why it's nice to have a defensive 8-Ball break in your bag of tricks. I know it's shaky video...forgive my wife.... for both the video quality and wedding me.

you can use the "defensive 8-ball break" tactic, but if efren finds an open shot, hel'll still break object balls one by one like he does on straight pool; and then finish it (parang pansit). =)

I think that video illustrates why it's nice to not have a wild cue ball on your breaks

You were wrong about one thing. I heard you say in the video that he (Efren) still had to break-out the 8. He didn't need to.

WTH did you do, break with follow???

Sorry, but it's not a good example. It's an example of what happens when you scratch on the break against a decent player, Efren or otherwise.

Freddie <~~~ might have run three balls

I wouldn't say that a defensive break isn't important but I would work more on my regular break if I was you. Do you usually hit with a lot of follow on the break shot? (or was this just nerves, which is understandable)

I have found that I have more success if I try to squat the ball in the middle of the table.

you should move the cb up to the string and you should not be breaking with follow. You should definitely not be scratching in the bottom pockets. I guess you were nervous? If it was me, i would be trying to run efren out! you left him an easy run out.

I remember talking to a banger who told me how he breaks open the balls and then the follow kicks in and it cuts the eight in ftw. It was cute.

That's how I used to break and it did cut the 8 a decent number of times. Got 3 8s in a row, twice cutting the 8 with follow. Too unpredictable, though. If he can't control a regular break, he's going to have a tough time executing a safe break often enough for it to be effective.
