An instructor, first and foremost, must be able to communicate with his pupil, as has been alluded to by many on this thread.
A pro player certainly has the talent to play, but not nesessarily the talent to teach, although sometimes they do. The instructor, on the other hand, has the talent to teach, but not necesessarily the talent to play at the pro level although some have accomplished both.
On the other hand, the pro and the instructor have the ability to teach at some level although to what extent is generally unknown, unless otherwise specified.
In summation, I believe the pro player could indeed benefit from the instruction by an instructor, and the instructor could do well by learning from the pro player. Only time will tell regarding this matter.
