Kamui Gator Grip?

Has anyone used one? Need to know if it's really worth the money. I play with a kamui black medium so i know it was more or less designed for use with that tip. Any help is appreciated, just want a solid review before i order one.

I bought one when they first came out because back then, Kamui was making a big mark on the billiards scene. And I of course bought the Kool Aid.

How much will you be spending on yours? My only gripe is that the "sanding surface" (whatever it is) can get pretty dirty, regardless of whether or not you have chalk on your tip. Like the leather from the tip gets ingrained into the tool (see the video). Other than that it does as intended-takes a little practice to get the feel down, but i'm happy with it. I use that and an It's George.

I have one and use it regularly. I think it's a great tool especially for layered tips. I couldn't find it for a few weeks and used my other shaper and it tore up the tip pretty bad.

I would personally recommend using one...check out their site for instructions on how to properly use it though.

Is there any way to clean it once it starts getting dirty? That would be my only concern. How long is the life on one? I know kamui advertises 10 years but is there a real number out there?

love it

If you use the gator grip correctly, rolling your tip on it, it is amazing and doesn't tear up your tip. It is the only thing I use on my Kamui tips.

I think they are worth it. BTW I play with a Kamui Black SS

I've got a Gator Grip and it works great.

Can't remember how much it was... 20 or 30 bucks or something like that but it is worth it.

Love the design too.

The magnets came out of mine soon after I bought it. Got to keep it together with an elastic band now. :(

I don't use it anymore anyway. It took me a while but I've learned not to piss about with tips too much and just let them be.

got mine here

I got my gator here on AZ it was used, I still use it everyday. Funny thing is that if you look at the tip after your done, it doesn't seem to have any effect but you can tell when you shoot after you use the gator. I like cause it doesn't rip it to shreds.

I think it is worthwhile, it roughs up the tip just enough to load on more chalk but it doesn't do it very aggressively. I think it makes the tips last longer than using other methods. However, I have also heard amazing things about the Last4Ever tip tool, so you may want to try that route if you want to spend half as much.

You can buy a lot of 100 grit sand paper for $20. A lot. A lot, lot, lot! And, no self-respecting crack head will steal sand paper. And, if they do, you'll still have a couple pounds of sand paper left.

IMHO, I would get a Willards, get the dime or nickel depending on the size you prefer. It maintains the crown/shape of the tip. The grinding/sanding surfaces appear to be very similar. With the Gator Grip I could see over a period of time that you could get your tip out of shape. The Willards are around $10-$12.

I've yet to learn this lesson.

I have one and I like it, although they are overpriced. It's good for when you want to mess around with your tip but not take too much off, and I particularly like it for scuffing over miscues.

This is correct. I believe it will not get dirty if you use it properly. The intent is to *roll* your tip on it. It puts a micro-porous surface on the tip that holds chalk very well and doesn't sand down the tip. The beauty of this tool is that if you exclusively use this (correctly), your tip will last a really long time.

I personally think it is the best tool out there and much better than anything else I've used.

Go to the web site or youtube and youll see that you roll it for a touch up and you swipe it back an forth like you do when you polish you shoes. (if any body still does this any more)

hhhmmm

the gator sucks, its an ass pain.

get a pack of emery boards, ladies nail emery boards, any where usa.

Maybe its the operator and not the machine that sucks? Just kidding , to each there own. I only use Gator on my Kamui tips, I still use willirds dime for regular tips.

Best shaper on the market for any type of tip

Best thing I have in my case that I use for the tip. Tip gets glazed a quick roll solves it. Tip miscues a little longer of a roll solves it.
