Insuring high end cues.....
Someone wrote that insuring high end cues can add $30-$75 in addition to the actual shipping cost.
That's not true unless the person shipping the cue is trying to manke a profit on the shipping charges or wants to be charge a lot for just driving to the local post office.
I've shipped two cues via the USPS parcel service last year and both shipments originated in California and I shipped to Vermont and Florida for the two buyers. I sent the cues insured for $2500 & $3000. The highest rate I paid the Post Offcie was under $48 and that included insurance for $3000 and next day....that's right.....next day delivery. The cues were sent from Fresno on a Friday afternoon and reached both sellers the next day (Saturday).
The USPS announced that mail deliveries on Saturday are being discontinued this August. However, parcel deliveries will continue to be delivered by the Post Office six days a week.
So anyone charging $30-$75 for insurance plus shipping would probably have to be insuring the cue for over $15000 which would be pretty rare or else the escrow party otherwise appears to really overcharging the buyer for insurance on shipping the cue.

Funny thing is, for higher end cues with high insurance value, express mail is cheaper than priority mail. The insurance rates for priority are outrageous.

So in actuality insurance alone can be over $50 if the wrong service is used. UPS and FedEx are worse than priority mail. Cheapest safest way to ship high value cues is registered mail. Takes a little longer but it is safer and cheaper.
