This is Bob and I holding my 98% mint condition Meucci Chess cue from the very first catalog. Bob was blown away at the condition of it and in all honesty I think he wanted to buy the cue but I quickly told him that it was not for sale. I hope yall enjoy this picture.

Very nice cue there. Too bad the quality of the cues that followed did not remain the same over the years.

Thanks for the pic MM79. Hate them or not its always good to see Bob.
I bought a Meucci years ago just to have one in my collection. Ole Bob has some serious forearms on him.

This hater only started hating when the quality TANKED. Before then that was a different story.

Is Mr. Meucci giving me a big ole F YOU? LOL jk jk

It does look like he is lol. Look the bad cue building days are over. Modern Meucci's are back on track. When Bob sold the shop in Olive Branch and move the company to Sledge MS that is when it all went south. That is because he had to hire a lot of people because all of his employees did not make the move with him. He hired some idiots that ruin his name to many many folks. Things are different now. The cues coming out of Meucci are amazing. If there is a little cosmetic blemish then it is marked as a 2nd and sold that way. A lot of people don't like that he will mark a 2nd and sell it. But that gives a guy with less money to have the chance to buy a new Meucci. I will not be able to convince every one of the good things that are happening in Meucci these days by my self. I make frequent trips back home and to the Meucci factory. I have watched so many improvements over the past years since they have been at the current location. I think if some people would relax for a minute, see what Meucci is about these days that Meucci would be on top of the cue world again

Thank you for keeping my hope alive that Meucci can turn around. I actually bought a 3 year old Meucci today, straight as an arrow with a solid maple shaft. I also have one I bought in about 1990 that is still straight as an arrow, with a "juiced" shaft.

I am glad to hear it, I will tell you what, you can buy anything from them these days and I don't think you would have an issue with it. If you ever get a chance to hit some balls with the new pro series please do. That that shoots very nice.

That's a nice early cue.

Why are they producing cues with the Meucci Originals stamp on them?

Have you any idea?

At the moment I have no interest in any Meucci produced after the mid-1980's. And I already have one example....which seems sufficient...

Because Bob's 2nd largest buyer/customer custom ordered them that way.

Are you sure that cue just wasn't made at the factory? LOL

Nice old original. Meucci made things on the first series originals different than they do today.

All this may be true but he did the hiring and his name was on the junk that was being turned out. So in the end who was to blame? He also let his customer service go to hell and that was what really hurt him.

hate meucci

It has never been a plan of mine to hate anyone or anything,
when I bought and sold meucci cues, i had no idea that they were like a bic lighter, if I would of known then I wouldnt hate meucci cues , because I wouldnt of bought one to start off with.

The older Meucci Originals were good quality. Anything from the 70's to late 80's Meucci still used quality materials. After that they tried to cut corners to save money. Even went as far as to have the cues made in China.

I have 3 Meucci's. The last one came about 2 weeks ago.
It's a new original 88-4. Nice cue! No dot shaft!
Looks almost like the one I had years ago. There are a few differences between the old and new. The new ones use a different weight bolt thread and are not drilled very deep to add much more. The joint material is "whiter" than the old one.
Still hits like a Meucci! :) Some like them. Some don't.
I do!

I've got a couple he can buy cheap.
If you see Mr. Meucci again could you let him know, I would appreciate it.
Seriously, Bob looks like a heck of a nice man and I respect him as an innovator.

Of course, you have said that before.

What I mean is why would one agree to such a thing? As you can see, there are numerous people who are not happy with Meucci and this move does not help.

Even Adam clearly marks their own reproduction line. They have the same Adam logo but under it say "Classic".

Did Meucci not know or not care what the reactions might be like among the cue aficionados?

The one subject I know a little about

Since I have owned too many production cues and only one custom, I am a great source of info on this one. I wouldn't trade my old players cue for a new Meucci. Here in the land of only bar tables and no diamonds (or any table bigger than 7') Meucci is STILL the most popular cue. Only bc you can't tell a dumb redneck anything. Yeap the land of big dummies, little tables, and crappy production cues is where I live. Help me!!!
