LOL, wow, that made me laugh sooo hard, this goes up there with Earlock Holmes as the best photo. I can't stop laughing at this, it's going to Snookers with me next time I'm there.

I say the "girl" has probably way more clue than most pool players or writers as to what it takes to be either which is why she works in a crappy job with good health insurance.

Sorry but ANYONE who sacrifices like she did to play a $3000 (ooops a $6000) ahead set on the Tar table in front of all the world's most active railbirds gets my respect FOREVER as a pool player. And her description of the match, simply "I won", earns her my respect as a writer forever.

Mike has to look inside himself and decide who he really wants to be known as. Does he want to be known for his attitude or his skills? I personally can sympathize with Mike. I have been accused of being a jerk many times and most times that was dead on accurate. Agree or disagree with my points when I am a dick about it then all anyone wants to talk about is anatomy at that point, anus, penis, vagina etc...

I would look at this piece and say to myself I never want anyone to turn their venom on me this way again. I never would want this asterisk by my name of "he's a great player but *". I am SURE that Mike is a fine guy when he is not in the heat of battle. I am and so is Earl. But I guess it's when the chips are down that you have to a finer person. That's really the test of character and one I have failed often.

I honestly hope I never incur the wrath of OMGWTF - she runs out with the pen as smoothly as Shane with a cue.

Let me interpret this for you guys who might need some help. Here's what the poster is trying to say:

"Girls scare me. Once a girl treated me mean and hurt my feelings and now I try to say mean things and hurt them first. Girls are what's wrong with the world and are the problem with pool."

People want to get into the game.. whoop-dee-doo if I see a room full of stale people. I don't go to a baskbetball game and cry about the people trying to distract the free-thrower. I don't go to a baseball game and ask the people to stop that are taunting the players. Good luck getting a football stadium to quiet down so that all of the players can hear the calls and concentrate.

If you can't look at a ball and shoot it in the hole after god knows how many hours of 'practice' and being a 'pro', cry me a river. People need to pull up their big boy panties and focus.
 
After you type it all up and post and read it about 10 times you realize some people just arent worth the retort and will always be miserable...

But all that to the side, it sounds like things between them, MD & OMG, went sideways as a result of her and her friends going beyond being mere spectators at the match, they became part of the show.

IMO, if you are so disinterested in a match that you are now becoming a distraction to one of the players because you feel compelled to go shopping on your phone, I think it's time for you to leave. That behavior, I believe, was from a friend sitting with OMG.

And to OMG, herself, who said she was simply relaying the scores of the match on her phone, as if this should excuse her also being a distraction, to that I say, tell the cheap recipients of your kindness to BUY THE EFFING PAY PER VIEW AND THEY'LL KNOW THE SCORE! You know, support pool. :rolleyes:

To be sure, Mike has some adjustments to make in how he comports himself, but he knows that and is working on it. But does his behavior rise to the level that he should be subjected to this sort of humor, seemingly straight out of 7th-grade, where substance requires constant embelleshment by way of head-size references? BTW, and worth noting imo, is that all that doesn't seem to slow down the pretty girls from wanting to hang out with him. :)

Apparently, it's not always enough to attend an event and share the experience with your readers. Sometimes you have to become part of the story, yourself.

I suppose a blogger's got to do what a blogger's got to do.

I think there's room for more than one person to do a little personal introspection.

I'm well aware that my opinion may not be popular but, like MD, I have thick skin, so bring it. :wink:

You guys have to read Melinda the right way. I guarantee you that if any of you actually knew her, you would not guess this sweet woman is OMGWTF. She's a pool player and a totally fascinating enigma. I absolutely admire her for being exactly who she is.
