I'm curious, how many racks have you run in a row(9-ball on 4.5x9 only)

What's your lifetime highest consecutive racks run amount on any 4.5x9?

As an aside, I would be curious to see some package results from the old TAR races to 100. It would be interesting to know the distribution of all packages achieved by what could be argued are top pros. I think I remember someone said Shane ran a 7 or something like that in 10 ball in one of those races. Also, I remember that Francisco ran I think it was an 8 pack in one of the Fatboy challenge matches. I think those were races to 15 or so..

I think the highest I've seen on TAR is... 8? I think recently when shane and dennis played 8-ball, there was an 8 and a 7. It would indeed be interesting.

The old tight tar table probably lowered the odds of a long string of break'n'runs, but even after they switched to standard diamond... I think shane "only" managed a 5. However in practice he mentioned 14.

I've run a 4 pack on a 4.5x9 table and I've only ever done one rack playing ten ball!

Playing UK 8Ball I have run 5 and have a snooker high break of 77.

Most I have done is a 6 pack on a Diamond 9'er. I have had a 7 pack run on me on a Gold Crown, could have been more maybe, but it was a race to 7. Most I have run on 7' is twelve. Had a ten pack run on me on one of those also. Those are the highest runs I have seen in person.

I used to play against a guy, races to seven getting two on the wire. There was probably not one set that he didn't run at least a 3 pack. 5s and 6s were very common too. This was on a double shimmed GC. I own that table now and it has built up subrails with 4" - 4 1/8" pockets. I just recently started playing the ghost and my best is 3. The sound of the rattled ball keeps me up at night.

Wow. I just found out what pool players have in common with fishermen. :D

Odd thing is I have played in quite few tourneys over the years and no one has ever run more than 3 on me and that was a magic rack fiasco

Didn't anyone read Helfert's Pool Wars or Bobby Cotton's book? Those guys ran 12 packs every time they took their cue out of the case, never booked losers and got BJs from random women on the ride home.
I REALLY need to learn how to play this game.

I don't think the reults of the poll are too outlandish. It is asking about high run, not average days. If someone has been playing for 10 years and ran a 5 pack once then that is not all too surprising given number of racks broken etc over a decade.

There is some luck involved in this as well to consistently make a ball on the break and get an open shot. Pretty much all of mine ended that way. Like Dennis O. at Hard Times. He had a 6 pack and a 3 pack in the same match. Only rack in between he didn't run out he didn't have an open shot at the one.

Guys, the key here is LIFETIME high run. Idk but I don't think many if any of the posters are trying to claim that they do their lifetime package all the time or anything. I've been playing pool for 18 or so years and have ONE 7-pack. I have laid witness to at least 4 runs better than that. I watched Jeremy Jones do an 8 for 500 a game. Watched Tony Ellin do an 8 as well though it was in a $100 set against a road player who's name I can't recall(the guy never beat anyone). Watched HillBilly put 5 and then 6 on Cole all in the same hour and that was before anyone knew him at least where I live. Also watched what I thought was an 11 by Marcus chamat only to find out that it was an 8(he had to push in the 3rd rack).

While yeah i guess some folks may be lying, not sure why anyone would but im sure some probably have :-(. The stars do align sometimes, folks.

On a side note, I've seen so many 8+ and 10+ on barboxes that I can't possibly remember them. It would be about as hard as me telling you how many burgers I've eaten in my life.

I'm just a local banger compared you players..

I've ran three in nine ball..no early outs , an have ran two 8-ball
a few times..wish I was more consistance then I am.

an I've had three nines on the snap in a row..I also had a guy
drop the 8 ball three or four times inba row on me..bcapl leauge..
he told me to learn how to rack..lol. We're friends , and he really plays
well..so I loose racked him..he checked it..he too has passed on.

Yeah, but that is Dennis O. Johnny Archer ran a 13 pack on busty and the match became famous. Even the worlds best get runs like this very rarely. I cannot fathom that 8 guys on here have a 10+ package on a 9-foot table. Bartrum, CJ, Mills, Dechaine, those guys ya but they are all well known pros.

Making a ball on 10 consecutive breaks alone is extremely uncommon even at the pro level. I have watched alot of pro pool and I cannot actually remember seeing a 10-pack in any match. Seen alot of 6's and 7's pattern racking but even the pros usually get a hickup in one break or a bad kiss screws up the shape on the 1.

yea, knocking people's answers is a little petty. I will use my answer of 8 or 9 depending whether you count my first rack where he broke dry and I ran out. Either way, I've been playing almost 20 years, and traveled all over FL and South GA when I was playing everyday. So you might want to consider the odds of someone getting hot shooting ,and breaking now and then over a long "career" of pool isn't such a big deal. It isn't much different than drilling a champion in a tournament now and then.

I'll also add that the majority of times that these big packages happen it's triple rare in tournaments due to a myriad of factors. Main one being oppurtunity due to the length of the races. Most times you see guys do things like this it's during a very long session where there's almost no oppurtunity to "get cold".

If you personally have never seen it, I'm sorry. But that doesn't make it less true.

yea, what he said!....

furthermore, if we counted smaller tables the #s would jump probably, because many areas in the south played on 8foot tables for years! I for one grew up on 8fters, and when gambling regular, used to string racks regularly. maybe some of these people need to watch more gambling

I was simply saying that no matter who it is the run can easily end if there isn't an open shot after the break. Most of my packages end because of either no shot after the break or a dry break.

I saw Chip Compton run a 7 pack in a tournament using a magic rack but not pattern racking. 8th game he went 3 rails and scratched in the corner getting shape on the 9 ball. :banghead:

I've been playing pool for 40+ years though there was an approx 10 year hiatus, and still, with all that time at so many tables, I have run a 5 pack and that was a total of once, ever.

This game ain't easy. :o

DOes this mean I suck???

not really a 9 ball player. so Ive only ran one rack on my old tripple shimed gandy (avatar) However Ive done 4 consec. of 8 ball. on the same table. this was done some time ago when my eyesight was better:mad:

I see what you're saying, maybe some of us are being too skeptical.
I can see a guy running 10 once in his life if he's capable of running 5 every now and then.

Anyway...
I need to get out and sweat some more high level games like this!
Even though I travel to all the local rooms and even travel out of state
to watch the regional tour events, I never see anything approaching 8 or 10 packs.
Where can someone watch this kind of barbox action?

there were some worldbeaters on barboxes at White Diamond just this past weekend.

can anyone chime in and tell us what was the biggest package run in that tourney?

thanks,

I was just gonna post about this. The tourney is alternate break though. May have been some big packages in side action though.
