I am finally able to escape the repressive PRK (Peoples Republic of Kalleefornia) and will be moving to the Tampa Bay area.

So just a quick shout out to all the central FL players. I love action, have deep pockets and I can't make a ball!

Seriously, I'm moving to the St Pete area next month and look forward to meeting the local players.

I do need to find a good "local room" within 30 mins or so of the St Pete/Clearwater area so if you have any recommendations please let me know.

Thanks!

Florida

Congratulations. You will love Florida. The people are great, the weather is sensational, except if there are hurricanes around. I am on the other side of the state, outside of Jacksonville, 5 hours away.

BTW, no state taxes in Florida!

Welcome.

Never announce you're coming.........just show up at a St. Pete poolhall someday wearin' overalls and a straw hat !!!

Maniac (don't forget the toothpick in your mouth ;)

No state tax is a big reason I moved there- free Porsche with the savings on state tax

Best of luck to you and hope you enjoy Florida. I moved to California 5 years ago from Arizona to be closer to my two sons. Worked out great with frequent visits and various family affairs but the cost of living is very much higher.

Now your within driving distance of me, and you can come pick up the cues you buy from me and save on shipping:eek::grin:

Good luck in the move!

Bumping this thread as I'm planning to move there next year. Would like to hear from the local AZers about the area.

pool around clearwater

I go to Livingston's in Bradenton FLA when I visit my daughter is a nice league room. I hear Breakers in Clearwater and Strokers in Palm Harbor are good.. The US amateur is played at one those rooms..

VonRhett...Several rooms in that area, but two that I like are Crooked Cue and the Flamingo Bar (not a poolroom, but they have a decent 9' table, and usually action in the evenings. Donny plays out of Crooked Cue. I'll be down there in two weeks, for the month of April. :D

Hey Maniac,
Everyone in the pool hall will jump on him to play if he shows up like that!! That is a good idea though. I am going to try that myself. Thanks for the idea.

Hello and Welcome to the Area, Von, and Scott, give me a

holler or phone call, so we can get together.

I am launching my Billiard 'Mobile' ProShop and Repairs on April 20th, so Von if you need any cue assistance or are looking for anything Pool Related, give me a PM and I will give you my personal and Business contact info.

Von, you will enjoy the area and the people and there are some nice pool facilities within 30 minutes of where you are thinking of coming to.

Wishing you all the best and get in contact, we can set a time to get together and make some introductions.

Respectfully

mike 'acedonkeyace' kennedy

PS.. I am out of Crooked Cue and my shop is right next door, but some of the good places to play are,

Strokers Palm Harbor
Side Pockets Seminole
Hammerheads About 40 minutes
Crooked Cue Clearwater

And as was mentioned

Flamingo has a nice older 9' in the front room with spectators Barber Shop chairs and plenty of room to place and gamble, Dale Nichols is the owner and is a great guy to put a game together.

All the best!!

Looking forward to meeting you Von, plenty of action at the Flamingo, let us know when you get here.

Having played pool for 30 years, I've learned a few things along the way, like NEVER play with someone named Captain Hook, and NEVER, EVER bet with someone named Reno or Miami.

I guess I can make an exception.....again.....
