Hi everyone,
I have to sell my best 2 chalk cubes. Both have been tested and I assure you that are dry like a sweet Martini...Both blue, probably from another planet or something.
Now here is the story. The one from the left is a talisman actually, Tom Cruise wore it from the day he started the Color of Money movie. The initial title was actually The Color of my Chest, as the chalk was worn as a necklace. They finally decided to set it "Color of Money" but here is why. The right chalk in pics is the cube that Paul Newman wore in his pocket at that time. When he was elected to be Fast Eddie he was way to exited and tried to be friendly. He popped out his money from his pocket to buy everyone there a drink. Well he was so embarrassed when all 2 bucks were painted in blue because of the damn chalk...

Now the story ends where my sale begins.
I want to sell these 2 cubes of memories for cheap, just to make someone happy. I didn't even dare to chalk my filthy cues with them...
Last chalking was in May 1986, not sure tho, as Tom still has blue stuff on his chest...maybe he used it since than.
The cubes are perfect, no warping or any wobbles, just a few chips in the uncovered area but that's not gonna affect playability what so ever...
I mean, if Tom And Paul did the chalking you can too...

The price is a bargain: 1000$ per piece

Thanks you all and I hope you'll enjoy this piece of history.
(This thread is a pamphlet and it should be treated like this)

OMG I can't believe you have these two fine pieces of history. Is the wrap Original?

When did the WFS become the Main Forum?

First polar bears, now celebrity handled chalk.

GLWS :grin-square:

I see a bit of daylight under the one on the right. Would you consider that to be taper roll or is it warped?

Great Nostalgia Items

The chalk you want to sell has some terrific history. Do you have any corroboration or certification attesting to these two pieces of chalk being actually used by Tom and Paul in the movie? I see that type of independent 3rd party all the time when a signature confirmation of a sports star or celebrity is involved? Otherwise, it looks like two pieces of chalk and "only" just that....two pieces of used, old Masters chalk.

I have probably 100 pieces of used, older Masters chalk and other assorted chalk I've wound up hanging onto dating back to the early 70's. It would be easy to take a photo of any of those chalks and claim that the chalk was used by Willie Mosconi while he did pool shots in the original B&W film, The Hustler or offer some other fabricated story about the chalk's past.

Someone who's an admirer of that movie might step up and buy these at any price you ask for. But it seems that some independent authentication would be needed to verify that these two pieces of chalk are nothing more than that......used chalk.......but then again, perhaps you do have some some authenticating documentation that obviates any concern about the legitimacy of the chalk's history.

LMFAo..... now that is funny.

Huge fan

I'm a huge fan of that movie and pool but without proper paperwork or proof it's just chalk. I would not even make a offer without the goods to go with the goodies.

I'll take both! Send an IM to my AIM account for payment info. My bank is kinda funny about wire transfers, though. Do you mind working with off-shore accounts?

Josh

i'll take them. consider them sold. lucky me. :)
EDIt: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.. lost for 1 min.. heart braker..

I don't really know much about this stuff, but I know a guy thats an expert. Let me call him in and see what he thinks.

Later that same day:

Ok, so he says that they are the real deal and that they are worth about 12 grand per cube. Now I gotta tell ya, the market on this stuff is really weak right now and I got to make a living to, ya know. So how about 85 dollars in cash and 50 dollars in store credit?

I'll take them both ! I will send you a $5000 cashiers check and you simply deposit remaiing $3000 in my account via bank wire.
