I think you should ask efren and go with his decision. Efren is the draw here. Shane would probably not care either way.

If it was my choice I'd keep it open table. I see no reason to "slow down" the top pros. If I want to see a slow game I'll go to the local room. These top guys are supposed to make the game easy.

I prefer open after the break for 2 reasons.......

1) I'd prefer to watch patterns as these guys run out, over them being stuck and forced to play safe after the break.

2) Nothing sucks more than smashing the rack, to only get stuck behind a ball and not have a shot at what you made on the break, when there is a shot and a run at the other set of balls.

If it's about making the game harder, have them pocket the balls in order like mentioned above. My favorite game to watch is Chicago, if played by a group of good players. This would be similar, and would make for great viewing.

What is the thought on alternate break

What about adding alternate break as a choice

If your going to play 8ball then you need to stretch the sets out to race to 30 and leave the rules as god intended.
And what rule set would that be that god intended? There's been so many major rule changes in 8-ball, which one is the best? Are you simply saying to play the current World Standardized Rules?

When the rule changed to "open after the break," suddenly more break and runs were available even to hacks like me. I always question that change if it was really a good change.

Freddie <~~~ might as well play the 1/15 in the side

We had a BIG debate about the TAR table, you went the direction you did. It is not the game's fault and now screwing with the rules is a lame way to artificially create difficulty in the game.

Are you really going to put in a rule that is going to make Efren even more of a dog then he already is because of his weaker break? Seriously?

Nevermind. I dont have the energy.

In this case, the survey follows, and is in response, to multiple racks being run. That can have an effect on the poll.

The same poll for TAR 28:

General user poll on preference:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=65118

I'm sure we've ran this poll more times than this.
Last night was a wake up for AZer who simply had no clue what a top pro can do in 8-ball. If they switched their vote, then that bugs me a bit, for no good reason mind you. It just highlights that people are willing to vote without experience.

Freddie <~~~ probably changed my mind.

Winner.

That way if Efren loses I wont have to fade the "You just made the rules so Efren would lose".

Although the facts probably wont make any difference anyway.

I enjoyed watching the 8 for a change but in the end it's too easy for pro's unless you gaffe up the table or make them play on snooker dimensions. Take what you make can be challenging but unfair. I can make 3 balls and have zero options with that type.

On a side note you could play last pocket 8 ball?

Nick

God dont like 8 ball, he likes one pocket now....

Just looking to get some opinions on what people think is the best way for Shane and Efren to play 8 Ball next week. Last night Busty and Alex played an amazing 8 Ball set and it was open after the break. Some people said its too easy.

My thinking is make it take can favor the bigger breaker since he will make more balls more often giving him the option of groups more than the guy who only makes one or two balls on the break. I can see it going both ways though so I just want hear what others think about the subject.

So what say you AZ?

Dont know if this has been mentioned or not but why not do rotational 8 ball? Regular 8 ball by these elite players isn't even fun watching

Nevermind. I dont have the energy.

If you start a thread/poll on a public pool forum where people discuss and debate pool asking for thoughts and opinions about something pool related, you might actually get people posting their thoughts and opinions on your question as per your request.

Just a heads up on that for the future.

Efren will win the 8 Ball...,

Efren has had a hard time in 9/10 Ball with the big breakers, but you dont have to have a big break to win in 8 Ball, his game plan will keep him in any 8 Ball game....,

Love SVB's game, but I Idolize Eferns!

Last night was a wake up for AZer who simply had no clue what a top pro can do in 8-ball.

Dennis vs Shane on the old tighter pockets was actually more dominant 8-ball then last night. Dennis shot a 100% accustat in that match, and lost.

If after seeing Dennis vs Shane a person did not realize how well pros can play 8-ball I certainly dont think this match was going to be the lightbulb. This match actually had some errors and missed runouts and after the first 11 games of pure runouts actually showcased the tougher side of 8-ball when things get a little more clustered and breaks do not leave tick tack toe outs.

I have to ask, did you even watch Dennis vs Shane in their 8-ball match? Because that match makes this statement absurd and 100% wrong.

I love seeing huge runs. if I wanted to see people miss I would watch everybody here posting its too easy.
I thought the reason to watch the Pros was cause they rarely miss

If they miss everybody talks s&$t about them, and if they run out its too easy WTF???
