I thought it would be easy but guess not. I sent predator cues a number of emails asking how I could get some of there ferrule stock so I would have it on hand. I have a good friend with a cracked ferrule on his Predator shaft. He wants me to fix it but I don't know exactly what kind of material predator cues makes there ferrules out of. Does any one know

What is the material ???
Has any one ever got it from Predator ???
Is it a common material that we can get from a different source ???
Please tell me how and where I can get the same material predator uses for there ferrules ???

I should of just started here first because there are so many of you guys that are so dam helpful and full of know how. I have lots of respect for you guys ,,,,Thanks

I would also be willing to buy from one of you guys if you have the right stuff.

Predator ferrules

Be careful, because they tend to melt if the lathe is spinning too fast.
Unfortunately the ferrules themselves are junk, IMO.
I would change over to Juma or something much better.
Just my .02

Thank you,
Michael

first gen used isoplast
second gen initially used titan, but then switched to something called maxlite.

isoplast and titan are readily available, but i have never seen "maxlite" anywhere, it could be that we just don't know the commercial material name for this. i do think the latest maxlite ferrule improves the hit substantially over the previous materials.

you have to be an authorized repair person to get ferrules from predator. i think you could probably machine your own if you could get the material, but the ones from predator are injection molded.

Predator

I had a feeling you had to be on there list of repair guys so I tried to apply. From what They told me they are cutting back on repair centers and are not adding any new ones at this time. That was there way of saying screw you. So needless to say I sent them a very polite (LOL) reply saying I expected better from Predator and from now on I would promote to all my customers to lean towards OB products since OB cares more about the needs of there repair guys and there customers. Thanks for your help guys...

Ya know JT, I can fully understand that they don't want to hand out accredited repair depot licenses willy nilly but to deny a repair man a couple of ferrules is kind of hard hearted.

Shooting themselves in the foot.

The letter was appropriate and maybe if they received enuff of them they would realize that if they won't sell someone a couple of ferrules, the repairman is going to put on what ever he feels like.
In the long run, that's not really doing anyone any good is it.

OB will sell you as many ferrules as you like. Hey, maybe put an OB ferrule on the 314, take a picture and send it to them.

Tell them that the combination works well and that you will put OB ferrules on
in the future seeing how you can't purchase their precious ones.

Who did you talk to?
Am trying to become authorized here.
I do repairs for an authorized repair person from out if town, I have done a ton of repairs.
If I don't have access to the pred ferrules I make out of Titan.

If anyone still has questions, start by re-reading post #5.
That's the straight skinny.

As to anyone being allowed to work on Predator products, there's a reason
the work is required to be done at authorized Predator Repair Stations.
It's about warranty.
If the work performed isn't done to specs and damage is done to the shaft,
are you going to cover it? Because at that point, Predator won't.
It's about protecting the buyer's investment.

You may feel slighted by Predators position but your client's warranty trumps that.
If the shaft is out of warranty, you can do what you like with it.

I love it

After I stopped laughing my ass off I realized how good of an idea that is. I just might do that. LOL

This is the email I first sent them

Hello Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm Jack Turransky of (JT's cue repair). I'm a cue repair man from the Boston area. I live and run my cue repair business out of Lowell, Massachusetts. I'm 50 years old and have been doing cue repairs for the past 30 years. I'm an authorized Kamui Tip installer as well as an OB Cues authorized repair Pro (Please refer to OB's web site for verification) I would like to inquire about becoming a predator authorized repair person or dealer. I have a customer with a cracked ferrule that would like me to repair it. I first advised them that if they altered the shaft by any one other than Predator or some one authorized by Predator that it would void there warranty. My customers reply as flattering as it was said to me Jack you have been working on all my cues for the past 15 plus years and your the only one I want touching my cues. My reply was Predator would do a fine job as it's there shaft and they are as professional as any other cue repair person out there. Never the less They still want me to do the job. As a repair man I would also like to have original Predator ferrule stock on hand so when people come to me for repairs I have the original material and be able to bring there shaft back to new condition. Please advise me as to how I can obtain Predator Ferrules stock and become an authorized repair person.

Sincerely: Jack Turransky
