East Coast 9-Ball Championship!

billy:
Thank you for the kind words. Regarding sponsorships - once this format proves successful, sponsors may come and the prize fund will rise even more. However, I believe this is a superior model to the broken tournament model in use today. The current model would be to perhaps charge a $400 entry fee and have $5,000-$10,000 added. The players spend $400 plus travel to attend with a potential to win $10,000. In this model, a player risks only $40-$80 for a chance at the same payout.

Many people and sponsors have done tremendous things for this game that we all love. However, pool cannot survive on the generosity of millionaires. We have to change the model and I believe this is a step in the right direction.

Good platform. I like the idea a lot. Very innovative and cool for pool! :clapping::clapping::clapping:

when you can entice players, excellent players, like Walter (blackballed) and Jam's better half (Keith McCready) to participate then you know you've come full circle.

but truth be told there has to be bigger money on the table. Walter's a family man now with mountain biking in his blood. Keith is a house-husband and has found his niche with a beautiful woman. both I'm sure want more participation with our wonderful game and of course your tour ... but have other priorities at the moment. the cash, sponsorships will change these attitudes

keep pushin' sir, you're on the right track. someone with the means will eventually recognize your hard work and hopefully come to our financial rescue. personally I think you could be halfway there already. I for one sincerely thank you for what you're doing Ozzie. like I said before 'keep on with the keepin' on' sir

you and your tour are huge in pool Oz. once again I thank you for all you do for our wonderful sport

APT is the nuts. Been to a bunch of their events and every one is run extremely well.
Players all seem happy, nothing runs unreasonably long... calcutta, raffle, etc. all go smoothly.
And there's some top notch play too.

Ozzy runs a tight ship but is thoughtful of everyone.
He makes sure the players, spectators, and the host are all happy campers.

Others might wanna take a look at this model, it really seems to work well.

Thank You!

Wow guys! I'm not sure I am deserving of all of those nice comments but thank you very much!!

billy:
I understand your point completely. I want you to know that this event is a prelude to something much larger down the road. I have always believed that it's best to build a rock solid foundation before erecting the rest of the house. Keep your eyes peeled later this year for an awesome announcement!

Good luck to you. Sounds like a winner. Johnnyt

64-player field – every player must win a small, low-entry fee qualifier to enter...
Read more about it ---> HERE

If every player has to win a qualifier, you gotta have 64 qualifier tourneys to have 64 different winners. As of today, I count 42 qualifiers so far...you'll need to add 22 more qualifying tourneys.

Also, if you win a qualifying tourney, you should not be allowed to play in any other qualifying tourney. Let someone else win. This will help ensure you get 64 different winners for each qualifier.

BTW...Great format!

How can you not know? You have been there for all of your successes!!

We are lucky to have you and Curtis in the mid-atlantic. If you 2 had a baby...well, that would just be gross.

Seriously- the primary reason your Tour is so successful is because of the planning, preparing and pure perspiration you have put into it. I know you know what Mr. Deming believed: MBO--design it to work right.

I look forward to seeing your continued success extend into higher profile events.
US OPEN?!!?

Correct

Vyc:
You are correct on all counts. We have several other commitments from other rooms but we are working out the exact dates before publishing them. Right now, we are looking for 2-3 more rooms, preferably in NC or SC.

Qualifier winners are not allowed to play in other qualifiers.

HELPFUL INFO
It appears that the turnout at First Break Cafe in Sterling, VA will be strong while the turnout at Atlantic City Billiard Club will be smaller. If you are within traveling distance of Atlantic City Billiard Club, it could be in your best interest to attend because it could be an easier tournament to win and qualify for The East Coast 9-Ball Championship! Good luck to all!

Update

With 26 qualifiers completed, the prize fund is currently at $7,700. The participation has been low during the summer months and we are currently falling short of the anticipated prize fund. However, we expect the turnout to increase as summer ends and the players begin to compete for the last remaining spots. Click here to see the list of past and future qualifiers and keep a lookout for new ones as they are added. Thank you!

FYI.....The East Coast technically starts in Maine but I would be happy if you could just make it North of Boston! What do you think...any chance?

We would love to have qualifiers from Florida to Maine. However, the sad truth is that players south of Virginia and north of Maryland have shown little interest. We have contacted room owners up and down the east coast and they have "put out feelers" to their local players. They all said that the players didn't want to travel more than a few hours if they qualified.

With that said, if you know of a pool room that would like to host a qualifier and can get at least 8 players to participate, we will do it! I can be contacted anytime at admin@actionpooltour.com. Thanks!
