Please help these rooms if you can

The following rooms have agreed to host 8 players in the American Billiard Club League and they could use a hand getting the word out to fill their 8 spots. If you can play yourself give them a call. If you know of a player in your area that you feel the league would benefit then give them a call to let them know about it. The room owners in general are very busy people and may not have the easiest of time reaching 8 aspiring players in their area (sounds easy but it’s not as easy as it sounds) so a call or drop by asking if there is anything you can do would surely be appreciated.

ANYTHING you can do to help these rooms get the message out to 8 aspiring players in their area will be very helpful. We are starting in July and a few key factors will determine who’s in and who’s not. If we have 2 good rooms in a region but the 3rd or 4th do not have 8 players then we may lose out on the entire region. So take a minute to call them, call a friend or player you know in any of these areas and best of ALL, fill a spot yourself? Even if you think a national non handicapped format may be out of your league you will be provided valuable training time, take 2 months to work on your game and hop on the table with some higher level players playing some 15 ball rotation!

Thank you in advance for helping us build a self sustaining product for our players and our industry.

Wow. It sounds like this is really going to take off in a big way. Great job your doing Joe. Good luck the rest of the way. Johnnyt

Strokers has 8, and could have a waiting list. Looking forward to this format. Played a few rounds and love it.

I might cut off a pinky for 63 more Joses, Rolandos and area players like you guys have, lol Rolando may be the best house pro out there? I always thought I did a pretty good job but believe he could spot me easily; he plays good, teaches good, organizes and directs good, meets and greets right there at the door AND then leaves me in the dust with personal cue repair for all you guys, easy drop off, easy pick up.

You're in a good spot at Strokers and we thank you guys for the support.

As for this thread, its working, at least a little. I have received a few calls from players that should definintely be involved and even a new club owner, for that I thank you.

Here's my request; if you veiw this post please send at least 1 text or phone call to a player you think should be playing in this, not all players frequent AZ (unfortunately, lol) Even have them call or email me directly, jttenball@gmail.com or and I hate putting this right out there but for the sake of a possible Pool Nike Tour, 508-840-6133.

We simple need to get them in touch with participating clubs and you could help with just 1 message, thanks for taking the time.

Joe,

I used to play at First Break in Sterling before I moved a few years ago. I live about an hour away from there now. Anyway, I emailed my old teammate from league there and encouraged him to join and to try to recruit anybody he knows there now that might be interested. He was a 7 in TAP back then. Not good enough to hang with the big boys but hopefully will join anyway for the experience. Also, it's possible he has continued to improve since then.

There was definitely a good group of strong players there when I was there so it's just a matter of getting the word out and getting them to join.

The good thing is it's not super expensive, so it could be worthwhile for B level players to join just for the experience.

You're exactly right about everything you stated and I thank you for helping. A tiny bit of help from a lot of good people can help spread the word!

The value is definitely there for all playing levels. If a B player were to just use the 7 week season as training its a no brainer and they would surely come out a better player.

Have you talked to anyone from Seattle/Tacoma yet?

Smoooth I haven't and feel a lil guilty not extending invitations out that way cuz I know they love there pool up there. I was just trying to invite places I could get some in person time with so everyone was sure of what was happening. We will definitely be inviting them for our second 7 week season.

Your assessment of Stroker's is right on. I just moved from Baltimore and have been made to feel right at home at Stroker's.

Even though the PNW is a bit of a dead zone for pool, there are players that would jump through hoops if they had to in order to get a taste of something serious.

I'd imagine it would look something like Medford, Salem, Portland, Spokane, Kennewick, Seattle, Tacoma.. maybe plus or minus a couple. Vancouver may even want to get involved with the Seattle and Tacoma area to create their own division.

Just finding a tournament that's over a $5 entry is hard enough up here. Write up a short article about ABCL "coming to the PNW this Fall" or something for On The Break and the rest would take care of itself, I'd guess.

I can't believe that you counld not get 8 players in Snookers to do this, unless you are just lising all the rooms you are working with.

I'd be almost willing to bet that Snookers is filled. Amost

Yea I'm thinking you'll have a tough time to be 1 of 8 at Snookers. Going to be some good matches there and a battle to make the top 4.

Bumping up for some more help. We are looking to start the week of July 8th and while New England and Florida are looking strong I didn't get to AL TN GA OH till last week and the prior week so I know those room owners would like some help filling those 8 spots.

And I never got to personally get to Midwest OK KS MO or N Cal S Cal where Marty Carey and Corey Harper are trying to organize 3-4 rooms each so i know they could use some help.

Specifically how to help; Call, text or message friend or players in those areas and ask if they're in or if they know about it. Ask the room owner if there's anyone you can contact for them. Room owners are busy peeps and I know they can't drop everything to go and get 8 high level players so lets help them any way we can.

Point people to the facebook if you can; https://www.facebook.com/AmericanBilliardClubLeague?fref=ts

What's the thinking on picking 15-ball rotation? I don't necessarily disagree, but in most places, it's not that common a game.

Overall, I hope this effort succeeds and expands.

The main reason is to help the people playing it improve simply by playing it.

I understand its not that common and I don't expect everyone to start playing it right away, my goal is to simply get 8 good players playing it at 64 rooms around the country and I think the 8 at a time will be able to adjust pretty quick. then others watching can try if they like what they see.

Some other things I like about it are the scoring, lil less luck, lil more accomplishment if you run a rack, less conflict with the alternate break ball in hand. Ever notice how 1 pocket and straight pool players tend to get along a lil better than 9 ball players, this game tends to create the str8 and 1p attitude that is geared more on the play and the table. The most important one is the improvement simply by playing.

I'm interested! I currently live in Atlanta, and would go all in for Mr. Cues II if I could, but since I am relocating to Portland next month I'm looking for some league play to be involved in. I'd be more than happy to help with this effort up there once I get there.
