** Florida Pool Scene **

He was not the best player in Florida, but he definitely was one of the best hustlers in Florida.... He drove a RV around the South East US back in the 90's, and stalled and stalled and stalled...... and then he got the CASH.

He has the look of a brawler, but was actually a pretty cool dude. He played with a custom cue that was disguised as an old slip on tip Budweiser cue.

I am not going to drop his name in case he is still grinding, but I am sure that the Budweiser cue will give it away for those that know him.

These were the best but may have moved:

John Schmidt
Corey Deuel
Rob Saez

These still live there:

Thorston Hohmann (rarely gambles)
Donnie Mills
Justin Hall
Hunter Lombardo

Not as good but gamble:
Rob Melrose
James Roberts

There are a lot more also-rans and could-a-beens that I wouldn't knock. If you count Mobile, AL you can add about three more names.

Brent, the best action in florida 1995 to present is the guy you and Johnny played in Tampa, Bubba. Everyone else is a distant second place.

instead of naming players, perhaps you could have asked where are the best spots to get played in florida?

I would think Tally, St Pete/Tampa and Jacksonville maybe. West Palm and Broward maybe too. In South florida, there are no soft playing go offs down here right now that will play strangers. As a stranger, you can win the dough in south florida but your gonna have to beat some people who play jamup. The lower tier guys wont get up or only for cheap.

No action to speak of in Orlando, Mike Delawder will play but he is about the only one. Adam I hear has been playing some guys from out of town, but other then those 2, I have not seen any action. Tom

Ya, I was down last November and saw him, he could not play as he just had some type of surgery. Told me come find him next trip and he would be ready. So hopefully in November I'll make it down there again when the u.s. amateur comes thru.

I'd probably have a ranking list like this for all around player. Guy must have lived down there at least like 3 years during the time frame.

1. Buddy Hall

2 thru 10 in no certain order would be some of these guys, listed in alpha. Order.

Corey Deuel
John Schmidt
Justin Hall
Mark Gregory
Richly Richeson
Steve Cook
Steve Miz
Trapper John
Will Bilbrey

Best action guys.
Bubba
Victor
Pickle
O.B.
Butch in Ocala
Tony bologna in Ocala
Pepsi

Best hustler
Johnny Ross
Furber

Im like the 10th best player in my own pool hall, but if anyone in florida wants to get up and play some I will ship it. I feel like I match up fair and always play tough games.
Problem is there are just so many paper champions and fan boys running around its tough to actually play someone.

Bubba is the best anywhere, in any state, period. Bets high, pays, and doesn't flap his chops, just plays. Best part is, you can have him stuck, and just lost another game and he appreciates it if you ask him to bet more every game.

I'll bet on the kid, or they got action with me just about any day of the week.

Are you refering to what I said about anthony playing jhall or james because I was with justin when you played him banks and 9 ball at best billiards and you pulled up after a set a piece and only wanted to play the game you won and if anthony wants to play them you can bust me just like I said.
