Am I confused when I say that we could just wait for OFFICIAL information, definitive statement (not hearsay) that they aren't paid, or are pairing/paring down? What's the rush to allude to this prematurely? Do you benefit from doing harm to BB? If not, will waiting a day really change the impact?
Bare in mind, though they may be adversely effected by this potential outcome (which maybe be tenuous or simply misinformation)... they are autonomous adults accountable for the risks they take. If their risk assessment was detuned as to get a contract that their attorney reviewed prior to moving... then they've made a life mistake they needed to learn. Some people pay to learn things in college, some people pay them later. Ultimately, as much as I share your sense of (in)justice where warranted, I'm also hesitant to advertise something by insinuation that's yet to come to fruition.
Get direct statements, not hearsay. Then there's no speculation and there's nothing wrong with your remarks. Otherwise, you're damaging the very project you say the players are relying on.
All meant politely, with all due respect (as you may have direct information which you've not revealed).... but bit of skepticism on both the players signing up for this, as well as on your part for believing they've been burned avoids the downsides you mention.
Its not sarcasm, its the truth. Unless a person knows 100% that is what is happening with Bonus Ball, its players and what the announcement will entail, its nothing but rumor.
I remember not long ago, someone was dying. Someone pulled a false statement from Face Book about this persons passing, which hadn't happened yet, and posted it on AZ, just so they could be do the, You heard it from me dance.
Thats also the type of Grapevine that I am referring to. I can't remember who posted it but it was probably pretty embarrassing.
My gripes with Bonus Ball began when the Canadian enterprise stepped on an American promoter's event by re-scheduling at the last minute.
.
And is there any truth to the rumour that someone borrowed the idea of another game, some say it could be the best game, never invented in Winnipeg........Canada........called Winnipeg Rotation and smuggled it south of the border?????..........well, what do you say to that Ms. JAM?
I was concerned when the matches this week, and it would appear next week also, became free. My optimistic nature said that maybe they have decided to use this as a promotional tool to gain more exposure. I believe that if given a chance to gain traction it can grow quickly. When BB first started, and then hit a few bumps, I commented that I hoped the money behind this was patient. I still hope so.
Most objective fans would agree that when you get an understanding of the rules etc. it is a very exciting, spectator friendly game as played and presented. It has also given viewers a chance to be exposed to a wider variety of players that do not normally get this treatment.
For the sake of both the players that depend on this to supplement their other activities and for the fans that are coming to enjoy this format I hope that this succeeds.
I had only heard that this past weekend was free...just bought the next week early this morning (bought now for access to archives). If they show next weekend free then they won't be receiving so much as a single cent from me in the future.
Where did you hear that next week would be free too?I was concerned when the matches this week, and it would appear next week also, became free.
I'd be interested in learning more!
Full disclosure.....I enjoy your posts. (I even took note at the attempt to become a kinder gentler JAM).
Even if we do not always share the same opinion I feel that your heart is usually in the right place. I respect that you are always firmly behind the players. I have some strong opinions myself in regards to the players and the overall direction that should be taken but that is best kept for another day, another string.
As far as "Winnipeg Rotation" well I thought that might get your attention and I wanted to accomplish two things. Firstly to see if your sense of humour was still intact after some of the comments that seem directed to you (these strings can become as heavy hitting as hockey, another Canadian invention stolen by the American big city boys) . As for Winnipeg Rotation, I highlight the phrase in my post "never invented".
Secondly, I had hoped, in a gentle way, to ask you if you would consider to stop thinking of the whole BB thing as being a Canadian invasion of sorts. Please consider being against BB on the merits of those who are running it and not because of its point of origin.
From reading between the lines the 'good' part of the PR could be a TV deal where they will fail to mention they are buying airtime and putting up the show themselves. JUST SPECULATION in my part.
That said, the Canadian enterprise of BB should have stayed in Canada.
I've been silent through your last dozen attacks on my country but my patience wears. Your one-track hatred of Canada reminds me of those special people in the US that blow up government buildings because they are "patriots". It's a line on a map.
I might as well put out what I heard...lol
I heard the players had not been paid the last two weeks but it could be more.
I heard that the investors were promised that by this time BB would have 2,000 or more weekly PPV subscribers and that the current number of weekly subscribers is 70.
So the investors have backed out and as of now BB is scheduled to take a 3 week hiatus. Personally I think the odds of more BB matches is 60/40....50/50 if you are an optimist.
