US Open TAR Stream locking up

Just wondering if anyone else's stream keeps freezing or is it my I pad setup?

yeah mine too, every 5-10 minutes it freezes for like 10-20 seconds.
JCIN said he contacted the stream people and they don't see any problems, but said it's a pretty high bitrate.
He thought maybe slightly lowering it might help (maybe a tiny drop in quality but nothing noticable).
I dunno if he tried that yet, I just got another freeze.

how'd it end up for you? It didn't freeze again after that last post, for me.

running too slow

Too much buffering for a high speed connection- disturbs the continuity of the match too much. glad i just got the 1 day pass.

Mine got better. It really was the bandwidth being too high, I found out.

I did a speed test on my internet and found out my usual high speed cable had dropped down to
2 Mb/s. Typical speed for comcast is more like 20 Mb/s, so my speed was reduced 90% for some reason.
That's still enough to surf and stream video, and I didn't notice the problem right away.

Anyway, I rebooted my modem and router (surprising how many problems that will fix) and
on my next test the speed was around 8 Mb/s. This was enough to get 0 hitches for the rest of the tar stream.
I have no idea why it dropped down to 2, and why it's currently only at 8.
Possibly recent storms in the area, locally there were internet outages all over the place.

If your connection speed is in the 10-20 range, you should not get hitches,
unless you have other stuff using your internet connection (netflix, streaming to TV, games, torrents, whatever).

What's going on. It's a few minutes till one pm and there is still now place to purchase the one pocket matches for today, The 18th. I don't want to buy yesterday

The new PPV links were posted at 8:30 AM Pacific this morning.

If you do not see the new days links refresh your browser. You are probably viewing a cached version.

I dropped the bit rate to 800Kbps

It still looks good and should help people with a slower connection

Although you said there were some local outages, I will warn you that Comcast uses Sandvine to downgrade your service if it detects torrents. Some games have given false positives as well as Microsoft Groove and Lotus Notes.
