Very dissapointed in lee brett. Should be ashamed

I overcame serious addictions many years ago and I can assure you that "God" had nothing to do with it. I did it all on my own power (with the support of other human beings), as do others who overcome their addictions. To assume that some false being had a part in that is preposterous.

Good for you. You obviously missed the point in the statement but no biggie.

Equally incredible is that you can take responsibility for thousands of years of evolution and the genes handed down to you by your parents. Either way, you missed his point.

I'm antagonostic.. I'm not sure of what I believe and you shouldn't be either.

I said I overcame addictions on my own (willpower, or what have you). Not sure where the evolution bit came in. If you honestly think that only thousands of years were involved in evolution (genetic differentiation), you are sorely mistaken

And I think you meant the word AGNOSTIC..."antagonistic" means something completely different.

So, everything that happens right now and what you are capable of is solely because of what you've made of yourself? You've got a hard sell there. Likewise, if you think that evolution simply involves leaving out a piece of bread for 3000 years, you're lacking a few vital ingredients.

As for the second part, it was the combination of two words. It's early, but so far just about everything has gone right over your head. Enjoy the rest of the thread. :wave3:

What a sad, sad commentary on bonus ball! To let the most visiable figure in the game (there for EVERY match ) go begging shows they have no compassion for the players or the game! I have seen this in corporate America, and now its come to pool. Employers want 110% loyalty from their employees and give 0% back. I had a good friend that worked in Vegas for 12 yrs. He left when the corporations took over. They treated the employees like numbers. He said the "mob" treated them so much better! Another sad commentary on corporate America. Bonus ball is a business, not a sport. Thus you get situations like Brett's.
Sad,sad, sad. The people at bonus ball should be ashamed, but I'm sure they are not!

What may be preposterous is the notion that 'God's' involvement has to be a light switch.

Could it be possible that 'God' gave you the power to help yourself?

"if you can spot it, you got it"

Thankfully, I've been spared first hand personal experience with a drug or alcohol addiction. However, I've certainly seen it through friends and acquaintances and understand how real and powerful it is. I've never met Lee Brett so can't comment on him personally. Just remember the old saying "But by the grace of God, there walks I."

That's so true, without some "luck" or whatever someone wants to call it we could all be in a MUCH worse position in life. "to error is human, to forgive is devine"

It's so easy to point out other people's faults and "downfalls".....however, there's another saying "if you can spot it, you got it" (or just "lucky" you don't?)

In I.T. -- and especially information security -- we have a couple of funny (but true) expressions:

1. Support manager: "That urgent support ticket that was opened by that user earlier -- what was that all about?"
Support consultant: "Eye-dee ten-tee user error." (Say this to yourself verbally, then write it down: "ID 10 T" user -- but scrunch the letters and numbers together to form a word.)

2. Same question, but different answer: "Identified anomalous mass between the keyboard and chair."

3. Same question, different answer: "Loose nut behind the keyboard."

4. "Infinite resistance between the ears." (Those with an electrical/electronics background or familiar with Ohm's Law will understand this one -- it's pretty malicious.)

In other words, those doing the complaining often need only look in the mirror.

Most of god's miracles seem to work this way. That way faith remains in the equation.

The funny thing is god could regenerate missing limbs live and up close and only three out of five watching would be sure they saw it.

No, the second part was simply a brain fart on your end.

Secondly, you mention evolution involving thousands of years and I tell you it is much more than that. You then infer that, simply because I didn't mention the processes involved in evolution, that I thought evolution was simply a product of time. You say there is much more to it than that. I hate overused phrases, but "no shit, Sherlock." You think?

Anyways, I think you need to stop being "antagonistic" with me. See, I used the word correctly:thumbup:

I know what the word means. I took it and one more and made a new word that was a bit of a play on both. First, you claim no god, then you say you did all of this and that, but I say more of what you do is from your mom and dad and theirs and so on. So you have near zilch to do with a lot of that - you are just the tip of a branch on a tree.

Did the small words help? Should I draw it for you?

If I was Lee Brett, I would be impressed that my failure to honor my sponsors has led to a debate about the existence of God.

I have a special helmet I wear when I'm on the internet. The foil blocks out religion.

You wrote, "I'm antogonistic. I'm not sure of what I believe in and you shouldn't be either:smile:." In a moment of cerebral disconnect you combined antagonism and agnostic. There is no play on words there. If there was, it would actually make sense. You're too embarrassed to admit it was a brain fart.

Yes, I am influenced by my parents (both nature and nurture), but that doesn't mean that I am not in possession of my own "self."

In my original post I said that I overcame over my addictions on my own power. You then wildly infer that I am claiming that I am a product of nobody...a product of myself. In your mind I solely overcame addictions on my parents power and that of my ancestors...I am not in possession of a "self." According to you, my parents just decided to respond to your last post.

Your arguments are laughable and full of holes. You were the one who tried to turn this into an intellectual pissing contest. You should have thought better of it.

I'm expecting you to respond with something else outlandish. Don't expect a response back, however. You bore me:boring2:

Corteza vs Pin Yi is a whole 'nother story:grin:

At least you're close to understanding that it was intentional. That's good enough for me, because it's tiresome having to explain something over and over again. If I make a mistake, I admit it. It was no mistake, I mixed antagonist and agnostic, resulting in antagonostic. End of discussion.

It reminds me of a poster a coworker once had.. Militant Agnostic: I don't know what I believe and neither do you!

Well it is funny that everything that happens is supposed to be god's plan yet people still get upset and judgmental over it. Oh wait even that judgment is planned.

As for Lee and Pai Gow. There is really no place that a person can go from nothing to flush faster than a casino, legally that is.

One time I am at Hard Rock after being out all night and me and my girl are down to .75cts. I said let's put it it in the first slot machine we see and go to bed. First pull $150! We cash out and go have a nice breakfast.

I'm sure you've heard the saying, 'God works in mysterious ways."
