You got ball in hand playing 9-ball, how would you try and get out? If not out what would your play be?

Forward a couple inches on the 5, shoot 7 with 1 tip @ 7:30 off the rail with soft to medium speed for the breakout. Make 8 and 9 for the $$$$!

Miss the 5 and let my opponent figure it out.

On second thoughts...

5 top left corner with CB running through about 6-9 inches.

7 corner with half a tip left english going 3 rails to land the CB on the side of the 9.

8 bottom left corner and depending on the angle I'd have;
Straight - stun run through about 6 inches
Thick - follow to short rail and back out 3 diamonds
Medium - follow 2-3 rails, maybe throw in half a tip of left english if I was feeling adventurous :)

9, corner.

5 in upper left corner, leave CB to the right of where 5 ball is, CB makes the 7 ball and goes off the short rail down for the break out

Are the 8 and 9 touching or just close?

This is the important question.

If they are touching I'd follow the 5 up an inch or so, pocket the 7 with lower left spin for the brake out.

If they aren't touching it's a whole lot easier depending on how close they are and where the 8 ball passes. If it goes to the lower right, that's no problem. If it goes to the lower left, I'd pocket the 5 with a bit of draw and then pocket the the 7 in the lower left and come two rails to get shape to the right of the cluster, follow the 8 for automatic shape on the 9.

Ah, sorry, yes the 8 and 9 was touching and the 5 wont go past the 8 in the lower left corner pocket. Sorry, I meant to mention that before.

Well, I'd set the CB up for a combination on the 5 7, play it lightly with an angle to go into the 8 9 (big target) Then the 5 should roll near enough the corner pocket to have a legitimate chance to get out.

5 in the top-left pocket, 7 in bottom-left, come off the 7 2-3 cushions to the right of the 8/9 cluster. Play safe on the 8 and use the 9 for cover.

I would shoot the 5 in, draw the CB a little to the spot I painted...than play the 7 with right hand spin coming 2 or 3 rails for the 8 down the long rail...follow or draw for the 9 depends on the angle...

That's what I said!! OP made it sound like the 8 wouldn't pass the 9 to make it in the corner. That's why I wussed out and played the safe.

If your cue ball were near the side pocket where you showed it scratching...
could the 8 go in the top right corner?

Does the 8 go in the bottom left corner?
Is it WIRED in the bottom left corner?
If so I like getting above it (gentleman789's option)

If it doesn't go, but goes in the top right, I do a ball replacement shot on the 5, then stun
to send the cue ball near the side (but don't risk going in the side) with plenty of left spin.
The goal being to park the CB near that side pocket and just shoot the 8 in.

The CB will bump the 9 towards the corner and shouldn't be tough to manage.

Sorry, I didn't realize I made it sound that way. Yes the 8 ball has a pocket in the lower left.

Yes the 8 will go into the lower left corner cleanly without moving the nine.

Roll the 5-ball in....soft draw off the 7-ball straight to the 8-9 balls..
If you miss them, you got the 8 in the corner...
...or almost any hit on the 8-9 gets you out.
