Funny trash talk to start the tar match :)

aaaaaaaaaaaaand he lost his shit. About to complete a six-ish pack,
ran the whole rack perfect, ended up like this on the 8. Instead of just softly
spinning the 8 in and holding the cue ball, he tried to go up and down and ended up like this.

After the miss he was really pissed at himself.

Jayson dry broke right after but Mike wasn't able to recapture all that lost momentum.

Yup, that decision may cost him the first set. Should have pulled to within 16-14 but is now trailing 20-13.

Ha, ha! I don't even have to look at that to know what it's about. I'm a guitar restorer and I went to see that with a big time guitar dealer I used to do work for. We really appreciated all the way cool axes they got together for that scene. :)

:) Best scene in the movie as it ends up showing the amp that goes to 11.

"We'll, it's one more." Lol

I think my Hot Rod Deluxe goes to 11. Not sure because I got the cover on now. The Blues Deluxe reissue goes to 12... even one more.

Mike trailing 22-15 but still shooting pretty solid. Dry broke. I think he is trading games
with jason for the past 10 racks or so but he fell so deep in the hole at the start
that it won't matter if mike outscores him 2-1 from here.

I don't like some of his choices even though I know he could give me the 5.
He had a shot where he just needed to stop, and the angle was perfect for the 6 to the 7. Also it was a little long so missable. He rifled it in 150 mph to get the cueball over the rail and back out 1 foot, which came within an inch of hooking him and got him way too straight on the 6. He got out anyway.

Next break successful but no shot on the 1, played clever safe nobody saw.

Playing a little mind game now lol... jayson's kick was good but sold out... mike asked
if the nearby 9 ball got grazed on the way in. Wasn't even close lol.

MD converts the sellout into another game in the bag.
22-17.

If Jayson loses from here a lot of sweaters are going to pull their hair out.
Jayson will probably borrow someone's jump cue so he can break it.

So stupid to not play according to the WORLD STANDARD RULES. Jump cues are part of the game then use them.

Wow, what a well-played match. Both of these guys have a very high gear and they sure don't go wrong very often.

Jayson 23 Mike 19

Quite a show so far!

What world standard rules? They just contested a fricking WPA World 9 Ball Championship that didn't even use their own breaking rules. The only rules are, there are no rules.

Well, TAR I think recently decided to ban jump cues, but prior to that it was players choice
and they usually chose to play without... I dunno. I like the idea of player choice.
In a true gambling set that's how it is anyway, whatever they mutually agree.

That's possibly a downside to TAR adding money, they can dictate terms a little more freely.
Though I'd like to think if shane wanted to play orcullo in a new all-around,
and they both insisted on jump cues, JCIN would let it be.

MD within 3 games and just broke PERFECT. Stopped cue ball dead, side balls went,
1 and 2 dropped in their respective corners, 3 dressed up nice.

Mike is making it exciting, he dogged 2 eight balls so he cinched this tough one.
bumped the 9, left an ugly shot in the side, made it and came up short on the 10. Made it anyway.

Within 2 games. Mike just sighed relief while racking.

Safety player error by Shaw at 24-20 has cost him two racks so far, and it's Jayson 24 Mike 22.

... but Mike D just scratched on the break!

Heartbreak... scratch on the next break for mike. Goodbye dollar.

Funny, earlier Mike got mad and gently smacked his cue on the rail.
Says very clearly and rigidly into the microphone.
"Oops. I did not mean to do that."

The announcers got a kick out of that one. "What like it an accident? The cue
just hit itself on the rail?"

Mike wanted to slam the cue ball when it flew into the corner just now.
25-22 shaw.

shaw wins. BRUTAL ending for mike. Shaw screwed up and hooked himself playing routine
shape on the 7 ball. Tried to compensate by jumping with the full cue.
To his credit came close, rattled it. Then he got the roll seen below.
Mike's face says it all. Mike kicked at this warp speed and scratched,
which I don't like. It's very makeable just rolling it IMO.

I'm really glad I bought tonight's set. That was an awesome match. Lots of good play. Lots of back and forth. Big comebacks. Everything I like. Also, I don't believe in moral victories in any way, but it was nice to see Mike keep his (admittedly oversized) head in the match even when he was down double digit games. He was in it at the very end.

What was Mike's largest deficit tonight?

Excellent point. My comment from before is withdrawn. The players should play under whatever rules are in place for the match they are playing. Makes them flexible!

25-22 shaw.

Sometimes I make a an angry motion towards the table not meaning to hit it but I go to far and smack it.
