Friends and Fans Auction Items for Living Legend Buddy Hall

All items AND bids are now correct in post number 1

Thanks everybody.

Ray

ps. Mr Wedge. Buddy didn't even know about this fundraiser. I leaked it to him about the cue by accident when I spoke to him about what it would say on the bottom ring. Buddy was a good friend to a lot of people and if you ever meet him you will like him.

Doesn't Matchroom pay Co-captains?

We NEED Buddy there and I'm pretty sure it would be the hi-lite of the year for him.

GREAT NEWS: There has been a misunderstanding. Of course Matchroom is paying Buddy Hall's expenses to be the co-captain at this year's Mosconi Cup. I am having this fundraiser for Buddy Hall because of what he has done for all of us over the years. All the money raised is going to Buddy for his contributions to the billiard industry. I would like to thank Barry Hearn and Matchroom for picking Buddy to be co-captain. He is a great addition. Thanks, Johnny Archer

Thanks for clearing that up Johnny. I updated all the information in post number 1.

Go Buddy!!

Look, either bid, or don't. Obviously, it doesn't cost $4,500 to fly into and stay in Vegas for a week. Probably no more than 2 grand. What I think is happening is that the American team is trying to get Buddy there and paid a little for his time. Which is fair, IMO. Top pros travel for exhibitions and get paid a couple of grand. It's no different here.

Now, if you are interested, bid. If not, don't. No one is getting rich here. Obviously, Matchroom balked at paying the extra coach. Buddy shouldn't eat it. The other 5 players shouldn't either. They aren't getting paid a lot anyway. So, if enough money can be raised through an auction of goods, great. Presumably the bidders appreciate the value of what is on offer. The guy who is really contributing here is Bill Schick. He's putting out a cue, although not really a fancy one, and getting nothing in return. My hats off to him.
To let everybody know again. Matchroom ARE paying to have Buddy there at the Mosconi Cup. All the money raised is going directly to Buddy. We put a $4500 number on it for a starting point. This fundraiser has nothing to do with the Mosconi Cup. Thanks, Johnny

Thanks again for adding some clarity Johnny. Now go focus on winning another U.S.Open!!! See you on the stream!

oooohh - i should throw in Jay's leather jacket @ auction, signed by any/every one @ Mosconi that we can get to write on me! (but KK9 will kill me when he wakes up)

That was a very expensive jacket by the way, high quality leather!

***We are also accepting items Please private message here on AZ if you would like to add a product to the "Friends and Fans" fund raiser for Buddy Hall.

Most of you are already aware that Buddy Hall will be Co Captain to Johnny Archer this year for the Mosconi Cup in Vegas. I have agreed to post this for Johnny to do something special for Johnny's friend.

Buddy Hall is one of the "Living Legends" of our sport. He is one of Johnny's heros that has been an inspiration to Johnny for many years. The cost of getting buddy to Vegas and to back will be covered by Matchroom Sports!! WHAT HAPPEN TO THE 4500, TO COVER COST?

If you do not win any of the bids but would still like to get involved Johnny will be posting a special Paypal address soon.

If Buddy is such an inspiration to Johnny, Johnny isnt broke, he is doing well in the business world,

If Johnny wants to put money IN Buddys pocket, then let Johnny do that, He can afford it!

What Johnny does personally for Buddy beyond assembling these items is none of our business, Our ONLY business here is, are you interested in Bidding on some really cool memorabilia?

If yes. Bid. If no, move along please.

Thanks,

Ray

I may be wrong about this, but I think I recall that Buddy Hall, like myself, does not and will not fly in airplanes. He drives everywhere or gets there by land.

It could be that monies are needed for Buddy and whoever is driving with him, maybe his wife, to get to Vegas and back home, wherever he is living now.

Again, this is only a guess on my part. Took me 4 days to and from Vegas when I did it. That is 8 days of gas, lodging, food, et cetera.

This is not the way you posted things in your original post!

You said Buddy needed 4500 to make this trip!

And you also said if one is not bidding to buy something, then Johnny was making up a paypal address for donations, or however you said it.

Then after a few negative post, you went back in rewritten about how matchplay is paying for Buddys trip and wiped away the 4500 that was needed in your 1st post!

Had nothing to do with any negative posts in this thread. It was about clarifying the information and wording.

Do you see any items that you can't live without?

What a cool thing to do. Sure wish someone put up From Rags To Rifleman even if it was just to rent.

He's done a lot for pool, like FIXING it that a casino will never take another bet on pro pool again. If casinos continued to take bets on pro pool a lot more players would be making a good living playing pool, but he got his that day. Johnnyt

I agree Gunz that would be cool. We are going to be adding some smaller items too. Maybe some signed cue balls.

Johnny is super busy with the U.S.Open right now and I really appreciate him taking time to clarify the fund raiser. Go Johnny! Been a while since he won that event. Maybe this will be his year.
