On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

So far the trip has been the trip from Hell.

I played too long before we left and got really wore out.

Then the drive.

Checked into a room and got a really nice room for a week for $350. Woke up at 9:30 AM with some church thing they do in the adjoining room with the drums, cymbols and allot of bass.

I kept waking up and up until it was about 11:30 AM and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. How could this motel do this?

I walked right out into the hall and complained to a maid. I thought it had stopped when all of a sudden it started it again. I went right to the front desk.

These guys were really loud and it sounded like they were right in our room.

We checked into a much smaller roon after that and it's much quieter.

The good news is I play at 4:00 PM tomorrow, Monday.

I went down and tried to play a little tonight. i played terrible. SHOCKER.

I feel terrible.

Now I have to deal with Rhea.

She wanted to go play some pool at the poolhall. i told her we need to focus on this tourny.

I got her a pass to come into the US Open. Took it back to the room. She came down and talked to some guy that told her they had a no smoking part at Q Masters so off she was to play some pool down there. he took her down there. he's probably a good guy but you never know?

This is really a bad idea and I told her that. Now I will worry about what's going on. Is she losing money? Is she OK?

I need to focus on playing tomorrow. I don't need this crap right now at this moment.

Can't wait until she comes in at 3:00 or 4:00 or 5:00 for that matter and wakes me up.

Hope she doesn't try to gamble. It isn't about her just sitting around but she could be learning first hand what it takes to win a tournament. I might not be capable of winning this thing but I know how to give myself the best chance. I've won many tournaments over my lifetime and know how to prepare.

Players that don't win do what she is doing. no disapline at all. Her going down to Q masters is like a hunter going hunting with a .22 for elephants.

Even if you find one you can't take it down. There's just not enough fire power yet.

Need to get some sleep.

Wow! For most people, playing in the U.S. Open would be the adventure and opportunity of a lifetime. For Gene, it's just another opportunity to complain and whine about his aches and pains and about his lack of preparation.

Gene has no one to blame but himself if he is worn out and exhausted from playing pool until the wee hours of the morning. While Gene is chastising Rhea's lack of discipline for wanting to play pool and gamble away their bankroll, he should be chastising himself for his own lack of discipline and preparation.

Gene will soon find out that the analogy about a hunter going hunting with a .22 for elephants, also applies to him as well, in playing in the U.S. Open. Good luck, Gene, playing your upcoming opponent, Jason Klatt, with your own equivalent of a .22.

I guess you just come across as one of them soulless people who spews nothing but negativity.

Have a nice day

Some call it negativity, some call it reality.
Treating a grown man like a child Is too much.
Thanks, you have a nice day too.

Your life must be really sad. I would feel sorry for you if I didn't think you were a complete sack of shit

I know exactly what your saying. It's the internet, people like Dora don't run their mouth in the real world like they do on here. Rude and obnoxious .. Yeah I'd say it was a POS statement. I would also guess that she is one miserable person. Misery love company.

Felt really bad for my last opponent.........

She is really a nice gal and plays pretty sporty.

She told me before we started that she knew she would get stuck playing on the table from Hell. Table 13........

Kind of like the movie, Friday the 13th only the table and the location was the monster, JASON.

After being stuck on the footrail myself and not being able to get in a proper stance because the table is too close I started just playing safe if I had to shoot from this rail.

I put mu opponent on the footrail every chance I had This was really rediculous but that is just the way it was.

The pressure was on her because she was behind in the match. I felt bad for her because she was nervous and there were so many distractions.

They needed to have one less table in this room or space them out a little different.

I was going to make a suggestion to the tournament director that they measure someones height before they send them back to play on table 13. If they are over 5"7" it is a true disadvantage playing on this table.

I wonder if they would stick Mika or Rodney back there. I don't think so.

Just hope I don't get stuck back there again.

I play Jason Klatt next. at 8:30 tomorrow night.

He's taller than me. Maybe I should put in a request for that table.

See how he likes shooting off the footrail everytime I play safe.

I'm sure he would catch on real fast and return the favor for sure when he played safe.

Jason is a real good player and plays real smart.

All kidding aside I really felt bad for my last opponent having to play there and have her US Open experience on table 13.

As far as Jason is concerned I hope we play on one of the front tables where there is plenty of room and outcome of the match will not be altered because of geography of the table.

Other than this table the US Open is great.

Everyone is working hard to make this a great success.

I'm excited to be here and can't wait until tomorrow and play some more.

For now it's more ice and the chiro.

Got to go. Good Luck to everyone in the tournament. I hope they all win.

Not politically correct or compassionate enough for you?

Ok let me rephrase it for you. Geno, good for you for trying to keep Rhea safe and all to your self by telling her where she (so hard) can and cant go. Rhea has no mind and cant think for herself. Its real fun being at the US open feeling bad about going to a pool hall to be around other pool players. Best she stays right by your side the whole time. If she doesn't then you should tell all of AZB because maybe then she will listen to you. Good little girls listen.

I hope this makes you feel better. Its all I can come up with.

I guess I should have clarified.......

Hi there Allen.

I was trying to squeeze in some practice playing $100 sets. We played until 8:00AM.

We kept the room for another day in Raleigh to sleep that day. Then we left for the US Open Friday after sleeping and resting all day thursday.

I was mad at myself and I told Rhea why. I should have quit about 3:00 AM so as not to get worn out beyond normal human endurance. Sometimes when a player does this it takes 2 or 3 days to recover and feel 100% again. But I really needed to play some. Had hardly hit a ball for 3 days.

Friday we drove and switched rooms. It turned out to be not that big of a deal because I only play one match per day.

Sometimes out here on the road you can do as many things as possible right and things still aren't Perfect. But by trying to do the right thing and not making the same mistakes over and over that hinder your chances you will be in allot better shape than if you didn't.

When I woke up today I felt like I was run over by a truck. I was still tired after sleeping for 9 hours. I don't know why this is.

Sleep apnea, diabetic,60 years old or a whole bunch of nasty accidents that are all slowly healing.

I'm a teacher first with some of the best info there is to help a player play better and a player second.

I'm still trying to get down to 175 and see if that fixes the diabetic part because then my body might heal up from the injuries I've had over the last 4 years.

I just do the best I can and share things with people on here.

Before my last car accident in May I won 3 tournaments in a row. I was feeling pretty good about my game. Whiplash, and a concussion really slowed me down to a halt for about 3 weeks. The day after the accident I even tried to play in a pool tourny in Peoria that I came for.

These are not excuses but sharing my experience with trying to get back on track. I work really hard at playing and work even harder teaching.

If I can get some good rest and ice up well i will give anyone fits in a race to 11.

I'm just having fun and seeing who i can beat and see how far I can go.

Do I make some mistakes. Yes I do.

Do I try not to. Yes i do.

If you try not to make mistakes you will make less.

Rhea is learning some valuable lessons out on the road. You seem to understand allot of the problems out here but sometimes my explanations are not clear enough.

Thanks for the input.

Gene, I gotta give you credit....as much as some of the posts take digs at you (regardless if they are right or wrong), you still remain pretty composed on your replies. Good luck in your match vs Klatt, hopefully it is a good one.

You can't insult a good salesman. All that matters is sell, sell, sell. Johnnyt

Yeah, one more win for Geno in this event and Chris Bartram has to send him a hundred.

I think Chris might have an extra hundy laying around at the end of this tournament. Also notice that Chris gambled on the luck of the draw...key word there is he gambled. Johnnyt

What was Gene doing when he played Chris head up? Ok, I'm going to guess your response but I'm not going to write it in here.

I'll let you know if I guessed right.

Hi Gene,

The above example that you cited where you played until 8am is what prompted me to write my earlier posting. IMO, you need to take much better care of yourself. After all, you're not a youngster anymore and you have medical issues to attend to. You need to conserve your energy and get your sleep too. That's nothing you don't already know but aren't practicing.

By making some changes to your routine, you may find yourself sleeping better, have fewer aches and pains, and have more energy too. In any other sport, a coach would tell his players the exact same things.

Good luck in the tournament!

Feeling pretty good,,,,,,

This is the best I could hope for. A chance to move on in this great tournament.

Some players only dream of playing in something like this and here i am.

I seem to have my aches and pains in check with ibuprofen and ice so Jason Klatt is going to get everything I got. When I feel like this I play my top game. And my top game can be good enough for sure to move on in this tournament.

Rhea is still asleep and it's 2:00 PM. I found a chiro that got me in last night at 6:00 and that is part of the reason I feel so good.

I'm going back there today at 4:00 to loosen up things for tonight at 8:30 PM.

Jason is a top player and a bonifide pro so it will take my top game for sure to continue on the winners side.

With some good rolls, some luck and good shooting anything can happen with this one for sure.
