I love Danny to death. His is the only picture of a pool player I have hanging up out of the many I have. He has always reminded me of my Dad, pro boxer, road player, tournament player, as was my Dad. He even likes to play the Greyhounds as I did. I could listen to his road stories for hours.

But he drives me right up the wall when someone that's racking takes more than a few seconds to get a tight rack. He keeps saying he can't see where it makes any difference with a tight rack or an almost tight rack. To me that tells me the old school didn't know much about the racking. Johnnyt

I've never wanted to punch my monitor so badly during a commentary in my life. Shut up about the racking Danny. You don't have to say it EVERY game of EVERY match. The break in this game is absolutely crucial, and these guys want to win. Give it a rest.

I love Danny, and can deal with his racking comments. But I really hate Ken Shuman. He is knows it all, seen it all, and wants to polish earls knob.

Definitely the best commentator in the game and I can live with a few of his old-school quirks if it means he still raises questions such as "What if Can Wang isn't actually as young as he says he is and is really an older midget"

But seriously the guy's a legend

Danny can babble anything. I don't care. He is very entertaining. We need him. He is unique, iconic, and good for our game.

Love Danny D..., but

Your right, the rack counts in 9 Ball, 10 Ball so I don't understand way Danny keeps saying is doesn't????? I know he's a One Pocket player and it counts less in One Pocket, but it matters there too!

He does hurt his argument by babbling it over and over, but his main point was that if you got to look that damn closely and for that long to try to find a gap the size of a c*nt hair, then you are being ridiculous. He has a point. That being said, I didn't see in last night's broadcast where they were taking anywhere near as long as some of these streams when it is opponent rack (go figure). His broadcasting has really gone down hill in just the last two years.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think Danny even comes close to Billy Incardona when it comes to commentating...

Why didn't players inspect and complain about every rack 20 years ago? Were Earl, McCready, Efren, Buddy Hall and all those legends just idiots that didn't know how important the rack was even though they were playing for 10x more money than players today?

Good point. It is annoying. The magic rack should be used always. Even then they bicker. :frown:

They absolutely did know. Racking secrets are not new.

You're right. The tournaments on ESPN sterilized the game. But, after hours, they argued continuously about racking. The loser also usually racked for the winner. Today, the players are content to mechanic their own racks for rack running. It used to be the opposite. The opponent would try to take the wing balls and 1 in the side out of play. Power was more important.

Try leaving the back row loose on the side you're breaking towards...if you believe that!

devastating ones using the magic rack, especially playing 10 Ball.

The advanced move is to push the two balls behind the back ball gently so there's a "chain reaction" that alters the two balls behind the one ball. This manipulates one of the two corner balls "DEAD".....it may take a couple times to get it just right, but then it's brutal.

By the way, I don't use this, but I do teach 5 different ways to look for cheating on the rack......and if a player uses them to his benefit, it's on him, I do believe in "Karma".

There's some really devastating ones using the magic rack, especially playing 10 Ball...you still have to break well, but it basically wires 3 of the 10 balls every time.
