My dad is danny cook. I know all the good and bad about him. I am needing to know how to find any videos of him playing pool or any pictures of him from back in the day. My grandfather was gordy chriatopherson, would love any info on him. Thanks

Good luck on your search. The picture in my avatar is of my father and my grandfather playing pool taken about 60 years ago. I found the picture while going through some old family photos in preparation for my father's memorial service.

I cant help you but maybe I can point you to few folks.

Freddy "The Beard" is a great guy and knows everybody. He probably wont have anything but can point you the right way.

Jerry Forseith - I think he is a moderator here, again a nice guy that knows everybody.

Jay Halfert - Again a great guy, that wont have anything but could point to a few that might be able to help.

If I was you these are they guys to get you started.

JAM is Keith McCready's partner (in crime) - and she tries to gather everything she can on Keith. The problem with Keith and your dad is they came one generation too early for alot of videos. Hell, JAM cant even hardly get photos of young Keith.

IMO, your journey will be a tough one. I will send JAM an PM but her mailbox is usually full.

Bill Porter on this site is a wealth of old photos. He and Mike Haines used to follow the tournament trail and took great photos of a lot of players.

Hi Cookiemonster,

I wish I could say I could help but I don't have any video of Danny playing. Seems to me I did have a picture or two of him, I'll see what I can find.

I did see him play many times in Memphis though back in the day. Hearing Dannys name does bring up some old memories of those days... Tony Fargo, Danny, James Christoper, Lou Jones, Bo Campbell, the Reese boys, Rosey, Whitelow, Dave Favor, Adam Orr, Alex Brick, etc etc...

I knew Gordy and Danny.......

My dad is danny cook. I know all the good and bad about him. I am needing to know how to find any videos of him playing pool or any pictures of him from back in the day. My grandfather was gordy chriatopherson, would love any info on him. Thanks

Gordy used to bring up road players to Wisconsin to play some pool. I never got to see Gordy play. He was always the backer but I'm sure he could if he had to.

Billy Gains, Al alou ( Allyoop) they called him and Bosten joey were just a few of the players he brought up there to play.

By the time I was around 24 to 25 I was beating these guys that would come up. Gordy didn't come anymore but they brought up other backers to empty out.

Danny never came with them ever but I did hook up with Danny in Dothan Alabama. I flew in there for a tourny and the airlines lost my lugage with my contact lenses and my cue stick. If I remember Danny let me use a cue of his to play. I did bad anyway without my contacts. After the tourny was over the airline called me to let me know my lugguge was in New York or something.

I went on a road trip with Danny and someone else. Can't remember the name. We went to Mobile Alabama and got some action there.

When I was in Dothan a guy there I played in the tourny had a bad cold. it turned out to be the flu. A real bad kind that was killing people at the time. Bu the time we got to Mobile I was pretty sick.

We went to pananma City, FL for a tourny the next weekend and we all played in that. I was really sick by then. I got knocked out of the tourny quik and went back to the room to rest. I was in bed for about a day or so and Danny came back to the room.

I'll never forget the look on Danny's face when he looked at me. I was so dehydrated that I looked like I lost about 25 pounds. Danny said are you OK. I told him know. I couldn't even hardly stand up.

Danny gave me the car keys to the car and said if I needed something then I could get it. Can't remember how he gopt back to the room. Maybe I drove him .

I looked in the mirror when I got back to the room I looked in the mirror and scared myself.

I looked like death itself.

The hospitol was only about 5 minutes away but it took me about an hour to get there. I kept getting lost and couldn't even think.

Once I got there they put me right in there with an IV.

I never got to thank Danny for the help he gave me in a horrible situation. He's a pretty nice guy and treated me well when I was sick like that.

I saw him one time after that but we never got to talk. it was at a tourny about 10 years later and I was playing and the next thing I know danny was gone.

Danny was a good guy and fun to be with on the road. He really understood the ropes.

This was my only trip with danny but when your on the road with someone it's like you form a bond forever.

I would go with danny on a road trip anywhere and feel comfortable with any decisions that he made with our money. He just knew what was going on.

Wish I had some pictures but I didn't even have a camera back then.

Good luck. I hope you enjoyed the story. There's more to it. If I ever run into you I can share it in person.

Good Luck. Gene Albrecht........715-563-8712 call me if you like.

Thanks Jeff it would be great if you did have a picture! Yea I miss alot of those guys I spent alot of time at the rack in Memphis when I was younger. My mom had alot of pictures of my dad but lost them in a move from Memphis

Thanks Gene for the story I love hearing them!! My dad has a big heart and loves everyone. He has his down falls though he always has to have money lol. He is alot better person now than he used be in his pool playing days. My grandfather Gordy was a wonderful man he was always there no matter what he passed away 2 years ago much too early:( thanks so much kristy

I knew Danny and Gordy

Danny was a very good player, especially on the bar table, Gordy knew his way around the pool scene and was quite a character too. They were good action and were with Tony Fargo in the old days, Tony was a stone champion and prolly still can play for an old timer. Sorry to hear Gordy died, please tell your Dad hello from Humphrey( my pool name).

I played em once in Denver early nineties. What I remember was he played hard, and knew his way around the pool room. He was a version of Shannon from my perspective, tho slightly trimmer back then than Daulton is now. Good natured, no problems with the match, think he had dirty blonde hair, and that southern waaaaaaaaaaaay about em. Did he have blue eyes.

Danny was my friend

I knew Danny real well we were good friends when he and Cathy lived in Texas he was a good player tell him i said hi
wade crane double dipped Earl Strickland in the finals to win this tournament it was a hell of a field with great players
