the Lambo guy built tractors, Enzo Ferrari(the guy who founded Ferrari) and the Lambo guy(cant recall his name im tired) got into a pissing contest on who could build the fastest car. I believe the whole story is on Lambocars.com<----best lambo site on the internet, the story is there.

Ferrari is much more refined car with a rich deep racing history, and Ferrari owners are more the "Connoisseur's of gracious living crowd"

Lambo people are more the FU $$ guys, kinda rough around the edges, I have owned Ferrari's as well. Lambo had dabbled in racing but its 2% of what Ferrari has done.

they are very different cars, from the same area of Italy.

Its' a combination of both. He was a tractor maker who bought a Ferrari had trouble with the car, complained to Enzo and was told to pound spaghetti and here we are. Your 8th Lambo.

OK I'll bite

If you want the best, its Blackboar, 2nd Mike Cochran (RIP, can't get anymore) next Cory Barnhart, I'll take a Barnhart over a Searing any day.

I would not say such things if I were you, Playing pool with a Searing can cure cancer.

Read as sarcasm.

<--- Finds it so interesting that people can not compliment their favorites without putting down others. I guess some people just get off on that kind of stuff?!

Let me rephrase that.

Don't get me wrong. Searing puts out a great cue. Its just me personally I would pick a Barnhart over a Searing.

Highest demand here's a few, Southwest, 12 year wait till your name comes up. Barry & Joel, not even accepting requests, Dennis has orders for life, Scruggs, Schick, retired. Many others in the 2-3 yr range. JR will get you a cue in under a year and DON'T think that means they are inferior they AREN'T! John Bender probably a year to maybe less and all HAND MADE and they PLA Y. More I am sure.

A lot of makers have been mentioned here and it's always going to be hard to pick a winner.
I just want to give an honorable mention to Ling Chou Lucasi.
He is the senior cue maker at the Lucasi plant in China.Quite an accomplishment for a 16 year old.

Ling Chou does great work considering the heaviness of the chains that secure him to the lathe for 22 1/2 hours a day. Another 5 years and he will graduate to 3/4 of 1/2 a bowl of rice a day and have his work day cut to 21 hours.

Fact is, he lives better than most of us (whatever his name is), he's probably a good 3 years away from total credit-card debt slavery and other lovely benefits modernization has in store for him.

Its definitely one of those two guys. However I am sure that there are people that have Tascarella, MOttey, White. et al on tops of their personal lists.

What I am wondering is when the last time a "custom" cue was used to win a world championship? Szamboti, Rodney Morrison? I heard a few of the Asian pro's played with South Wests but I cannot confirm that.

Who is the most in demand cuemaker right now? I would base this on who's cue is worth the most on the secondary market. Ie: 2 cuemakers make identical cues, say a 4 point 4 veneer basic cue, who's is worth the most and would sell the fastest at that price.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess it's either Barry Szamboti or Dennis Searing.

What do you think?

Between Barry and Dennis, who is more "hot"?

Get one of his playing cues and a jump cue and break cue and your quest for the best is over. Just my opinion only. Rich aka the skunk.

Demand should be broken down between new and used. I have heard there is a 10 year waiting list for some makers. If they only make 12 cues a year than that only 120 buyers. Not really that much demand when there are millions of pool players.Just because someone can charge $4000 for a cue and someone is willing to pay that doesn't make them the best cue makers. They just know out of the millions of players there has to be a few who make really good money and can afford their high end cues. Doesn't make them better. Just RARE. Those that spend $20,000 for a cue and I may be wrong but they probably make outstanding money. Doubt there are many buyers downgrading their lifestyle so they can afford to buy a SW. 12 cues a year for 10 years is 120 cues. Makes them RARE but not in demand.

I don't know Southwest production but I'd guess between 50 and a 100. Hercek maybe 50. A note as well that $4000.00 is on the high side I maybe wrong but I believe when I ordered my Hercek Joel's basic cue started at $2500.00. You are correct that just because a cue is expensive doesn't mean it plays. If it doesn't play it becomes art. I will tell you from experiance Joel's, Mike Bender, Schick, Gus &Barry's, Perry Weston, Scruggs, Black , Gina , Searing, have all been players. Are they the best I don't know are they the most experianced, yes.

Hercek kicks out 50 a year? Wow...seems like a lot for a top tier cue maker.
