Finally! New TAR Website

Its only taken a little over six years but TAR finally has a real website.

Thanks to Tom Collins at http://www.arizonawebkings.com/ TAR has a website that doesnt look it was made by a drunken six year old. I am going through and getting all the details filled in now but when its finished it will be a one stop shop for all things TAR.

All the info for OnDemand matches will be there as well as YouTube playlists of our content there and all the podcasts. Tom worked some interweb black magic mumbo jumbo and the site is wired into Twitter/Facebook so you can comment on videos directly on the TAR site.

As I figure out how it works I will be adding more content and features to it. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Let me know if you find any bugs or bad links and I will get them fixed..

I can't say enough about how awesome Tom is to work with. We talked about the new site and what I was looking for and literally the next day he had the bare bones of it up and within a week I was in the admin panel making changes on my own. Its optimized specifically for mobile users as well so if you use your phone or tablet to watch TAR content it should be great.

I highly recommend Tom at ArizonaWebKings if you are looking for website work. Over the years I have talked and dealt with numerous "web guys". Prices were either ridiculous, I didnt trust them or they simply did shit work. Tom is the first guy I have dealt with that I feel completely at ease with. He does what he says he will and is easy to get in touch with when I have a question.

Check out the new site and tell me what you think: http://theactionreport.com/

I do like the navigation of this website, and it is informative. In particular, I do like the individual header pictures on each page when you click a tab. The header on the Home Page, however, seems too long -- east and west (words "TAR" covered up by video), as well as north and south -- compared to the other headers.

I read an article about websites that said the average reader surfing the web will only spend approximately 5 seconds on a website unless something grabs their attention. On the Home Page, the header picture at the top with the video and acronym "TAR," unless you have a giant monitor or huge screen, it doesn't seem to complement the rest of the website. I have a pretty big monitor. If I open it to cover the entire monitor, I can see it, but I usually have multiple windows up. The length, north to south, of that header on the Home Page, if it was shortened a wee bit, it would allow a person to enjoy the complete Home Page. After all, this is like a front door to a house.

All in all, a great improvement that I'm sure will be beneficial to all involved.

Thats something I am trying to figure out and will probably change.

Its a pain figuring out something that works across all devices. From 24" monitors to iPhone screens. The website scales the image depending on what resolution someone is viewing it. So for some it will look ok and others it will look squished or weird. I expect to have it worked out shortly.

May ditch the video player all together and go with a smaller header.

Looks really good on my first blush Justin - especially for a major overhaul.

Easy to navigate, appealing, informative. I like the rolling tweets - it personalizes. The "read more's" lead to very well written description (but do add a half inch to the Harriman/Schmidt Diamond table description)

I know you had a couple years' frustration trying to accomplish what you wanted. You're a persistent and goal oriented businessman. Nice work.

Your Web Designer did a great job with your new site. I think it's light years ahead of your old site. Best of luck in the future with it.....

The website is nice and all but it's not what needs to improve.

I think the OP should tell the fat guy to improve his interviewing skills. He still keeps cutting people off. I will be watching an interview and while the guest is telling his story, he gets interrupted with another question.

Overall, good site but the host or anchorman needs to let guys finish.

JCIN -

Looks nice.

Sometimes I feel you are frustrated that it takes a while to get things the way you want them.

I work in industry and some of my engineers say similar things. My advice is just continue to move forward. As long as you are continously making progress you'll get there. Secondly, how many times do we "think" we know what we want but during the journey we change our minds and end up better than if had it completed the way we "thought" we wanted it initially.

IMO, you guys have done a good job of "moving forward". From an outsider looking it, you're doing a good job and probably moving at the right pace.

I wish you the best of rolls my friend,

Ken

Site is first rate.. Edward Tufte would be proud....

a small nit would be to display the podcasts in some specific order...

THANK YOU for starting to get the 1 pocket out there... having a catalog of the US Open 1 pkt available for FREE is quite a service!

The podcasts are in order if you click on the Podcast tab.

The playlist on the front page has them jumbled for some reason. I'll see if I can figure out what causes that.

There are two fat guys doing those interviews. One of them is dead.

In either case you can go fvck yourself.

Justin,

I noticed only 3 On Demand matches. I could have sworn I saw the Shane/Efren all around awhile back.

Also (and no rush on this), but I thought you were going to upload more of the 2013 US Open One Pocket?

I am working on getting pages made for all of the OnDemand matches. They will be up in the next couple days.

The YouTube uploads are on hold till I get the website worked out and TAR 37 is finished. TAR 17 has to go up on demand as well.
