The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

wish you and rhea would come down to eliz.city,we're only an hour away from pockets. she could get all kinds of good action, and she'd probably win.

If Gene doesn't win at Pockets this Saturday we plan to go to Elizabeth on Sunday for a 2nd chance

we have a 9ball tournament saturday night at 7:30 that pays about $160 to win,you all should come to that, you'd have a great time, everyones friendly, and you got so much good action there. we would love for both of you to come down and stay the night and play both tournaments, you won't be disappointed.

Hi Rhea, the determanation and heart plus gamble you have is very impressive, slow down Lady you have plently of time to become a great player and i believe Gene will get you there, the rite way, a WINNER!

Talking about big spots, iam a solid b player playing 9 ball and i have been playing at that speed for a long time.

I would match up with Bobby Leggs and Tom Vanover when they were in their prime (they both played pro level speed and then some) bunch of different times, i couldnt win no matter what spot they gave me, playing winner breaks, i lost every time getting the 5 on up playing 9 ball winner breaks, the only way i ever beat either one of them was with the 5 and breaks.

When you play a pro level player you must always get the breaks or they can spot you what ever, cause once they get to the table they either run out or lock you up safe!

So from a b player to a pro level player is the difference from nite and day!

Am I the only guy to lose a lot of money to better players when I was learning, or is the world just full of nits now?
It's a learning process. It's a dues process. If you want to be a locksmith, you won't get better. And you won't make any serious money ("playing the road" at your level is not going to be a fruitful venture) because a c player or worse doesn't find good action all that often. Nobody is gonna give you the world for good money and try to outrun the nuts.... Unless they are nuts.
IMHO

The other day I gave Gene my half of our bankroll and told him to manage everything from now on. I know I am not good at matching up, if anyone wants to play me they have to tell Gene the spot and ask him if it is okay otherwise I don't get to play. And if I want to initiate a game I have to ask Gene first what he thinks of the game. That is just the way it is. So I probably wont get much action from now on. But I am still allowed to get some money to play in small tournaments.

Did he make sure you have quarters to do the laundry?

Hide them from Scooter and Tedder!

I think it is a different time now. Also I don't think it's neccesary to match up with better players all the time to get better now. Sometimes sure but you don't have to donate as much because there is a lot more good information out there to learn from.

But I do agree with the general sentiment that always looking for a lock doesn't encourage one to stretch out and get better. It's essentially leveraging whatever level you are at. I like to try and outrun the nuts once in a while to push myself and see if I can get there.

No, so if i want to eat I have to ask, etc. I don't even get to go to the poolroom today because he doesn't feel good so i am staying at the motel on the internet.

He should give you some money for time and food everyday. You have to stay in stroke and work on your game. You are married to pool not Gene ;)

I don't think he wants me to play every day, especially if there is a price/per hour where we go. He would rather I only get on the table if there is someone who he approves of me playing otherwise I really don't get to practice unless we are in a poolhall that offers free table time or a super low table rate special price.

Use the time to expand your pool mind. Watch videos and really study them.

Damn what a road partner. You can't get better if you don't hit balls. Money for table time on the road is like gas on a trip, its figured in the price.

I dont really like to knock action when someone has a sucker down..So i wont comment on this!!!

I just don't get how this rhea has been playing so long and isn't that great. What does it do with its time? I'd like to think if I was rolling around the country with an instructor I'd be getting pretty good pretty fast. It seems to me like they are going backwards.
