Meaning of "trolling" on this forum?

OK I know what trolling is in general. But I don't get what constitutes as trolling on this particular forum. It appears I'm constantly being accused of trolling despite following all the forum rules and never attacking or insulting anyone unless I'm insulted first. I also don't recall starting any flame threads or provoking pointless fights.

Furthermore, some people keep saying that the thread they're trying to wreck is just fine, but my past threads were only meant for trolling, so why would this one be any different. Here's the link to the titles of my last 25 threads:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/search.php?searchid=11909364&pp=25

Please point out which of these threads contain elements of trolling so I can use that knowledge when writing my future posts. I'd really like to stop being a troll, but I'm gonna need some help from you guys. So, how exactly am I trolling?

You (perhaps always?) use absolute statements and a communication style that suggests your idea is undeniably correct.

Then people contradict or provide theories/ evidence to the contrary ...which is what you wanted.

Ram shot?

This thread is 87% trolling, no link required.

I looked at a few of your threads.. Seems like most of them are basically useless trivialities at best, and at worst, simply a media for you to ask stupid questions to irritate people.

You either A. ARE, or B., are trying to come across as.. A simple-minded but enthusiastic beginner pool player who just doesn't have a clue about the vast majority of pool topics. I think it gives you great pleasure for some reason to see people on the forum debating the stupidest topics.

So, you do exactly what radio great Phil Hendrie does.. You present a topic that is a little weird, but plausible... Then, you start out with semi-legitimate questions, and as soon as people start going off the rails in the thread a little bit, you pour fuel on the fire with little comments here and there.

I really believe it is B. For that reason, I am not going to give you what you want. I STRONGLY suggest that this should be the last non-Push&Pool post in this thread, and that everyone else simply refrains from posting in threads he starts.

Any further response simply gives him what he wants.

4 step process for you to get through this.....

1. Cry...just let it out....even if it means to cry yourself to sleep

2. Tell others of your problem (potentially while still doing step 1)

3. Realize that nobody likes a crybaby so seriously....shut the &$%#$ up and man up

4. SUCK IT UP SON....YOU CAN DO IT!!

Good luck

Well, here is a simple way to tell. Everyone on this forum knows at least one other member who is a troll. If you do not know one then guess what....it's you. :D

Trolling?

If I post a thread to ask what constitutes trolling is on this forum is it a form of trolling?

I guess I'll just start a thread with a poll about my trolling questions, to see if I get shot down. If so I'll just start a new thread asking it.

If you're not sure if you are being a troll or not, there's a good chance you are...

Trolling is to intentionally post BS that is clearly not true or not the common position on a subject and pose it as fact just to shake the hornet's nest, so to speak.

Make a thread stating, "Corey Deuel sucks at pool because he lost to Busty!! What a loser -- he should quit!!!"

(^^ the thread from yesterday, as an example)

Unless Busty made a incognito AZB account, it's trolling.

Some opinions are so unpopular, that's it seems like the only
reason anyone would express those opinions is to stir people up and piss them off.
It's pretty rare to find that sort of trolling.

A lot of people on the forums hold very controversial (and mostly unpopular) opinions.
E.G. "It's ok not to call a foul on yourself" or "As far as I'm concerned Kevin Trudeau is a good guy".
Probably "strategic blasts" and "ram shots" fall in this category.

When those opinions are sincerely felt I wouldn't call it trolling.
A lot of members use "troll" defensively any time someone disagrees with them.
But it's not really trolling to express an unpopular opinion unless your only goal is to anger people.

You can sometimes spot actual trolling by the use of inflammatory language.
They not only pick an unpopular opinion, they use language designed to rile people up.
Pangit and Wintakegary might be good examples of that.

A few do it more subtly by taking quiet potshots at others and leaving out bait
that they know people can't resist. Controversy seems to follow them around and they act innocent
when accused of being at the epicenter of the shitstorm.

P & P...The first step would involve you learning how to actually play pool. That way, when you "weigh in" on topics, or start threads, you might actually know what you're talking about. As it stands now, you're Sgt. Shultz (you may be too young to understand that)! LOL

Strategic blasts? I do these all the time, albeit not in pool. Just eat a big plate of beans (refried or otherwise) -- maybe add some boiled cabbage, a SlimJim, and several beers -- and aim the resulting gas at your enemy. You can even borrow a line from the Claymore landmine, and have the following imprinted on the seat of your pants:

...except changes "front" to "rear." :p

-Sean <-- adds new meaning to the word "trolling" when you see me walking around with a plate of beans

Since a picture is worth 1000 words, I was REALLY tempted to post an enormous picture of an ancient rowboat as an example of trolling. Like the picture in one of your other threads.

I'm on my iPad though, and can't easily do so.

OK... I'll play this game.

Me stating an idea and others providing arguments and evidence about the idea being either wrong or right is called debating, not trolling, and I could be wrong, but I think that's what this forum... any forum, is about.

Ram shot? We're back on that thing? Ok, I'll explain again... I made that thread soon after I first joined. Quite a few people kept mentioning that term, and I had no clue what it meant. I asked several times in other threads where it was mentioned, but nobody responded. That's why I made a separate thread, which soon attracted more attention then saying "I plan to murder SVB in the next four days". If you don't believe anything I stated, you can check it all out in my oldest posts.

On here, trolling is to disagree with those that represent 0.00001% of the pool playing community.

Sometimes I feel that way too

The most simple example that comes to mind:
No one likes bangers and you apparently love the idea of being a banger.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)
Give it a read. After, quit posting useless threads.

Well, if someone doesn't like me because I'm a banger, then he can simply ignore me. I have my rights to play any way I want, after all, this forum isn't meant only for top players but for players of any level. It doesn't justify pointless attacks on my posts for over a year without provocation.

Good thing you posted that link.
In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]
Inflammatory, off-topic or similar messages? When on Earth did I do that?

I looked at a few of your threads.. Seems like most of them are basically useless trivialities at best, and at worst, simply a media for you to ask stupid questions to irritate people.

Again, maybe most of my threads don't go into deep, advanced technicalities of pool, but we have plenty of that every day. When I need that I can easily find that. When I can't find an answer to something, or I want to hear more opinions, I start a thread. Some may be trivial, but I don't see anything about them which is negative or trollish in nature. And I don't pour fuel on fire because I don't like people who get pissed off in my threads to begin with. I won't get any good information out of them, they'll just piss me off as well. I usually try to calm things down, and saying that I stir up the pot is a complete lie.

there should be a forum for trolling so all the idiots can chit chat with each other

This forum is the closest thing to what you're proposing I've found so far. Sorry but that's just coming from my personal experience :frown:

You call me a crybaby? What am I supposed to do, sit and do nothing when every post I write gets discredited for no apparent reason and my every thread gets almost instantly wrecked by the same people over and over again? I was actually thinking the same way for the first month or two, but now more than a year passed and I simply don't care anymore.

Well, here is a simple way to tell. Everyone on this forum knows at least one other member who is a troll. If you do not know one then guess what....it's you. :D

I don't know one. I know around a dozen. Fact.

This is something people usually consider trolling and I agree with them. But here, no. Here I still get called a troll even though I never wrote such posts.

Strategic blasts and ram shots? Expressions I kept hearing from other people. Inflammatory language, baits and making people angry for no reason? Not in my interest actually. Controversy? Hell yeah, but usually constructive and never with hostile intentions.

I know how to play pool. I'm not an advanced player by any means, but I do know a thing or two. Enough to debate certain topics. And I usually stick to those topics. Have you ever seen me go around giving advice about how to correctly perform a masse shot? Didn't think so...

Trolling is making a post on the main forum that has nothing to do with pool

Yup. This thread shows you for a troll. Your an admitted beginner but then want to post tips on how to play. when most of them are pointed out to be wrong you get upset. Your not good enough to post how to tips. You should be reading them to gain knowledge because it's obvious you don't know enough to know you don't know anything lol

Push&Pool is a troll. You have never brought up anything with worth. I have never witnessed anything positive towards your posts. That, in itself, is proof that you are a troll.
