The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

At least he appeared to be vaguely bending over in that video. Great commentary, too. Superb shirt and creative use of the jaws to boot. Impressive.

I did find it ironic this clip popped up when Scot's masterclass finished. I know who my money would be on.

And yet you don't have the balls after all these years to post a single video of yourself playing so great with your fantastic ways of doing things. Could that be because that even when Scott is just goofing around, he still plays better than you do??

Lol. You won't find me criticising SL for missing that one ball - we've all done it and it wasn't a particularly easy shot with all that gear on the ball - but I will criticise ANY instructor that says it's not important to bend over on the shot.

'After all these years' you STILL don't get how unbelievably unimpressed the rest of the world is with how you play and teach pool. But you're not interested. You like what you like and how you've always done things.

New. Broom. Needed.

You are partially right. I don't care if the rest of the world is unimpressed. I'm not out to impress anyone. That's for the "egotist" on here, not me. I only pass on what I KNOW works. If people don't want to listen, they don't have to. They are free to try and find some other way.

Since you claim it is so bad to not bend over completely on the shot, why don't you explain in another thread exactly why that is??

Gene dropped me off at this bar out in Hampton VA today and gave me $110 to work with, I bought into the tournament, purchased a 9 ball break and run Ticket, a soda, a candy bar, left a tip, went to McD's later on and got a McDouble. And I am sitting here typing this as my money count is at $145.00

Not too shabby but could have been better if those people at the bar would have played me for more money.

Don't forget gas and motel and food earlier in the day. Maybe finding a Walmart will help cut down on food cost. Now the FDA is going to cut out trans fat, good luck with McD's.

No matter how many times you suggest it, I'm really not going to start a thread on the bleeding obvious.

And you are passing on things you know worked. Note past tense.

So breaking for hours is a drill and considered practicing but running rack after rack after rack for hours isn't?

There are no threads on the main forum of AZB that everyone agrees on. Someone that's just starting out playing pool are hard pressed to find an answer to their questions that all in the thread can agree on. It makes them more confused. Johnnyt

Hey.... Start a new post to debate practicing and drills. I come here for the documented aspects of this road trip. Take the hijack somewhere else.... Thanks.

Seriously.

Not everyone will have the same opinion as you guys, Neil and Pathetic Shark, but learn to respect others. Go to PM's if you want to bash eachother over whatever it is you guys think is so important.

+1 ....now back to days programming before sht gets too real.

Running rack after rack after rack is good, but you have to break the game down into different aspects and practice like this also. You would never see a basketball team just go out everyday and play full court games for practice. They break the game down into different scenarios practice those, than bring it all together.

Just in case you missed it, Rhea is just wanting to play and not practice. She thinks that is the "key" to quick improvement. Gene feels differently, and is trying to get that across to her. I pointed out a few of the reasons that "playing" is not practicing. Hopefully, that will be another voice telling her the same thing Gene is trying to teach her. Sorry (not really) that I took the opportunity to help someone, instead of just watching for the inevitable train wreck so many of you are waiting for.:(

This is relevant because gene and rhea are fighting about playing the ghost and if it's a good idea.

Since Gene is trying to build a champion, why is he not spending time with Rhea showing her how and what to practice on? Seems like he has given up on her to some degree.

I agree. I like living vicariously through Gene and Rhea in these threads. That Mickey D stuff thickens my blood vessels just thinking about it.

I think it is more difficult to teach someone that is close to you than it is to teach someone who is not close to you.

There is an old saying and while it doesn't fit this teaching business perfectly, I'll throw it out there. "Familiarity breeds contempt."

So they aren't "real" people to you, and you feel no need to try and help them, only want to read about the drama they have. Got it.

There is no doubt that working on your technique (practicing) is better for improving your level of play than just "playing".

Playing is what you do AFTER you hone AND PERFECT your technique and that is only with those who remember how you USED TO PLAY.
